R is for Rabbit: Crochet Rabbit Applique

Here is Day 18 of my 26 Days of Crochet Animal Alphabet Appliques!
R is for Rabbit
This Rabbit is a great appliqué to save for Easter or Spring! You could also use it for the letter B for Bunny.

Materials:
– Worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in beige and pink with a little bit of black and white for the face embellishments.
– Size G Crochet Hook (the bigger the hook the bigger the appliqué and vice versa)
– Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:
Magic Ring Tutorial
Sl St = Slip Stitch
SC =  Single Crochet
SC Decrease =  Single Crochet Decrease
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
TC = Triple Crochet

Rabbit Applique Pattern:
Magic ring, chain 2 and make 3 DC, 3 SC, 3 DC, 3 SC in ring. Join to first DC, pull tight, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1, turn
Row 4: SC in next 8, chain 1, turn
Row 5: SC Decrease, sc in next 4, sc decrease, continue to SC around piece until you get back to the beginning of row 5. Join…
Row 6: chain 11, TC in 4th chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, skip 3 stitches and join, chain 11, TC in 4th chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, join to last stitch from row 5.

Inside Ear:
With pink, chain 8, DC in 3rd chain from hook, DC in next 2, HDC, in next, SC in last.

Stitch on face and make french knots for eyes.
