T is for Turtle: Crochet Turtle Applique

October 21, 2014

Here is Day 20 of my 26 Days of Crochet Animal Alphabet Appliques!
T is for Turtle
This tiny turtle makes a great appliqué for hats and other crochet items! It would go great with a ocean themed project and could be made in different colors or even multiple stripes for the shell. Sorry again for the short tutorial! Things are a little crazy around our house…more details on that coming soon 🙂
Materials:
– Worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in fern green and kelly green.
– Size G Crochet Hook (the bigger the hook the bigger the appliqué and vice versa)
– Tapestry needle
Abbreviations:
Magic Ring Tutorial
Sl St = Slip Stitch
SC =  Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
TC = Triple Crochet

Turtle Applique Pattern:

With dark green yarn
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 6 SC in ring, pull tight and join to first SC, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (12 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first, SC in next, join, chain 1 (18 SC)
Round 4: 2 SC in first, SC in next (24 SC)
Change to light green yarn
Round 5: chain 6, TC in 4th chain from hook, TC in next, DC in last, join with a slip stitch to next stitch from round 4. Now working in back loops only…SC in next 3, chain 4, HDC in 2nd chain from hook, HDC in last chain, join with SC to next stitch, SC in next 3, chain 4, HDC in 2nd chain from hook, HDC in last chain, join with SC, SC in next 3, chain 4, slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook, SC in next, HDC in last, join with SC, SC in next 3, make foot, SC in next 3, make foot, SC in last stitches and join to head.

    My son loved turtles when he was a little boy. Maybe I can use this pattern to make a little reminder for him.

    I believe that round 4 should say 27 stitches, not 24 and this would also mess up the placement of the feet and tail….! Unless I miss understood round 4!

      Danielle, I agree. I can't get 24 following the directions: 2SC, 1SC, repeat…I end up with 27 as well.

      For round 4 I did 2sc, sc in next 2 and got 24 stitches total. Hope it helps.

    Round 4 should say:
    Round 4: 2 SC in first, SC in next 2 stitches, join, chain 1 (24 SC)

    First things first, the “buy European wife” request is not a thing. There are many articles about it, women are not for sale. Singles from various countries mailorder wifes use dating apps to get married. Ladies are referred to as mail order brides, guys as mail order husbands. It’s simple!

    However, the most interesting part is waiting for you in the communication. http://bestwebcamsites.org communicational tools are not bad. There are different types of interactions on the platform. Review the live chats and send messages. Besides, only the premium users can send the messages or live the reactions on the private shows.
