Button, Button, who’s got the Button?! I do!! And they are for you! We’ve been going a little button crazy over here 🙂 Especially after I showed you some ideas on how you can use character buttons on crochet hats like my Santa Sleigh and Reindeer Crochet Hat and then the Farm Animal Hat with Fence Border. Unfortunately these buttons can be tough to find. The ones pictured are mostly from Michaels (ArtMinds brand) but also from Jo-Anns and Hobby Lobby. I snagged some extra Farm Animal buttons and gave them away on my Facebook Page but I secretly wished I could do more to help those of you who don’t live near a craft store…
And then something wonderful happened!
A longtime follower of my blog and avid crocheter of my hat patterns sent me an e-mail to say she would like to donate more buttons! Not just one or two packs…she ended up mailing me 16 packs of buttons! Bless her heart! She insisted on not being named, but I wanted all of you to know about this kind and generous soul. I threw in a couple more packages for a total of 25 packs of buttons! Lots of Farm animals, sheep, cars, trucks, owls, dinosaurs, rainbows, monkeys, spaceships, and more!

Oh, and lets talk about one more thing. For some reason some of the buttons don’t have holes or posts. I have no idea why. There is a couple things you can do in this situation. You can glue the button directly to your hat with a glue called Gem-tac, or just hot glue that sucker on. Another idea I had was to glue a small pony bead to the back of the button to create a post. You can do this with either hot glue or E-6000 (E-6000 will probably give you a better hold) and then sew it on just like you would the other buttons. If you have any other ideas please post them in the comments below!

I suppose you could glue a pin back onto the buttons and just pin them in place.
you could shisha embroider it in place.
I like the idea of gluing a pin to the back and making them removable for washing or just changing up the look!! 🙂

I actually use these buttons as page clips, by gluing a large paperclip to the back.

I make earrings out of the buttons by cutting the posts off or filling in the holes.
You could drill holes too, if you have tiny drill bits. Which we do because boyfriend is a nerd. 🙂

Thanks for the tip. I bought the farm animals the other day and noted that some of them do not have the shank on them. They are not button is you cannot sew them on.
I would glue them on a felt brooch or crochet house to cheer it up!

Thanks for the chance to win some of these adorable buttons. I think they are made for flat crafting on cards and scrapbooking projects, etc. They could be attached by stitching the legs and neck areas plus other openings with clear monofilament. The neck stitches can also be covered by a fine satin ribbon 'collar' or bow.
