Crochet Bunny Silhouette Appliques

March 7, 2015

Earlier this week I posted Bunny Tags with cute little pom-pom tails that got me thinking… I bet I could make a crochet version. Turns out my Crochet Snowman Applique made a perfect starting point for these bunnies! You will see the similarities in the pattern below. Use as an appliqué or string them together to make festive Easter garland. I sure you guys will find many other uses for them as well! No reason why you can’t stitch a little bunny face!

Unicorn Crochet Hook is from The Polymer Clay Shed. Check her out on ETSY!

Materials:
– Worsted weight yarn
– Size G Crochet Hook
– Tapestry needle
– Pom-pom maker (optional)

Abbreviations:
Magic Ring Tutorial
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet

Bunny Applique Pattern:
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 8 SC in ring, pull tight, join to first SC, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (16 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1
You have now completed the bottom of the bunny
Do not fasten off. We will now create the head.
Row 4: SC, HDC in next 3, SC, chain 1, turn
Row 5: Beginning in 2nd stitch in row, 2 HDC in each, chain 1, turn (8 HDC)
Row 6: Beginning in 2nd stitch, SC in each stitch across (7 SC)Continue to SC around sides of bunny and join to first SC in row 6
Do not fasten off. We will now create the ears.
Chain 8, DC in 3rd chain from hook, DC in next two chains, HDC in next two chains, SC in last chain. Skip one stitch and join with a SC to next. SC in next and Chain 8 again, DC in 3rd chain from hook, DC in next two chains, HDC in next two chains, SC in last chain. Skip one stitch and join with a slip stitch. Fasten off.

Tip: when weaving in ends, sew the space between bunny ears and head together.

Use small clover pom-pom maker and white yarn to create a bushy tail or stitch on a bunny face!

    Hi Sarah!
    I just adore your little bunniy pattern. When I first saw them I thought they would be real cute as coasters too. You would just have to make them a little bit bigger. And oh, wouldn't these Bunnies be cute as a little stuffed animal. Thx so much for sharing your free patterns with the World Wide Web of stitchers. I simply must check out your crock pot recipes next.
