Crochet Panda Bear Hat

June 19, 2015

I love when one crochet pattern suddenly morphs into something else and that is exactly what has happened with my last couple hat patterns! It all started with my Crochet Fox Hat which then turned into a Raccoon Hat and then the Raccoon hat inspired me to make this Panda Bear Hat! I love being able to borrow elements from one pattern and creating something else. What will this hat become next?!

Materials:
– Worsted weight yarn in Black and White. I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Two White buttons (about 1 inch wide)
– Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:
Magic Ring Tutorial
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet

    I am in love with your website! I’m making this panda hat for myself now (so fun!). It is adorable and you explain it so well. I also made a little owl for my sister, and I’m going to make so much more from your site. Thanks so much!

    Hi there! I wanted to make this for a friends son. I had him take measurembra for me and he says his head is 19-19.5 inches. He wants the hat a little snug, which size should I go with?
    Thank you!

    Hi there. I love your patterns and they are usually so easy to follow but I’m having a lot of trouble with the eye patches. I have followed the pattern as best as I can understand it and they just don’t look right at all. Maybe you could do a video on them seeing as though there are many others battling with it too.

    I have used a number of your cap patterns for my grandchildren and found them generally easy to follow and the results were pleasing (to me and my grandchildren!) However, I am a bit frustrated with this one because I feel that the eye patches, nose and ears are the correct size for the smaller caps but not for the child size which I am making. I will have to add extra rows to get the balance right. I have added a black row at the bottom of the cap and black ear flaps which I think will be more practical for a 7 year old boy.
