Crochet Christmas Light Appliques

November 21, 2015

ChristmasLightApplique1

Here’s a quick and easy Crochet Christmas Light Applique that you can add to your holiday decor! Spruce up a crochet hat, add it to a stocking, string them around a tree or mantel, decorate your office, and more! I used these for a specific project but you will have to stay tuned to see what I am working on 🙂 I whipped up a quick video tutorial but am also including the written pattern below!

(Sorry, I’m using a new app to upload videos and have no idea why the frame is wobbly?! I will try to fix it.)

Materials:
– Size H Crochet Hook (the one in the video is from The Polymer Clay Shed)
– Worsted Weight Yarn in main bulb color and black.

Abbreviations:
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet

Christmas Light Applique Pattern:
with main color
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 8 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in first 3 stitches, HDC +DC in next, DC +HDC in next, 2 SC in remaining 3 stitches,
Round 3: Join with black yarn, chain 1, SC in next 2 stitches, fasten off.

    Thank you! This is so perfect! I made a 3d version a couple of years ago but each bulb took so long that i keep putting off making more. I’m going to make an all pink one for my daughters room where all her xmas deco is pink (complete with mini pink tree) #childhoodfantasiescometrue

    So how did you string them all together? Just tie the black yarn pieces together? (Want to make sure there’s not some special way that would make it easier or neater that I’m missing.)

      I was wondering the same, to me it looks like the ‘bulbs’ have been done first then connecting them by the black in 1 go leaving and inch then doing the 2 sc on top of the bulb, leave an inch or so and carrying on like that. I can’t see any info as to whether I’d be doing it correctly but that’s how I’m doing mine 🙂
