Gobble Gobble! It’s Turkey Time! Celebrate November and the Thanksgiving holiday with this Crochet Turkey Wreath. A perfect piece of decor for your front door or inside walls. You can even take pieces of this pattern and make a free standing amigurumi suitable for a centerpiece!
Materials:
– Size G Crochet Hook
– 10″ wreath form
– Worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Toffee, Scarlett, Mustard, Terracotta, Fern, and White.
– Two small safety eyes
– Polyfil stuffing
– Tapestry needle
Abbreviations:
Magic Ring Tutorial
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
SC Decrease = Single Crochet Decrease
Wreath strip:
Chain 21, SC in second chain from hook and rest of way down, chain 1, turn
Row 2-115: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (20 SC)
Fasten off and stitch edges together around styrofoam wreath form.
Turkey Head:
(This is the same pattern as my Crochet Snowman!)
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC inside ring, pull tight and continue to SC in rounds (do not join).
Use a stitch marker to keep track of your rows if needed.
Rd 2: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch, repeat around (15 SC)
Rd 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 2 stitches, repeat around (20 SC)
Rd 4: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 3 stitches, repeat around (25 SC)
Rd 5: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 4 stitches, repeat around (30 SC)
Rd 6-10: SC in each stitch around (30 SC)
Rd 11: SC Decrease, SC in next 4 stitches, repeat around
Rd 12: SC in each stitch around (25 SC)
Rd 13: SC Decrease, SC in next 3 stitches, repeat around
Start filling with poly-fil stuffing
Rd 14: SC Decrease, SC in next 2 stitches, repeat around
Rd 15: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 2 stitches, repeat around (20 SC)
Rd 16: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 3 stitches, repeat around (25 SC)
Rd 17-19: SC in each stitch around (25 SC)
Rd 20: SC Decrease, SC in next 3 stitches, repeat around
Add eyes and beak
Rd 21: SC Decrease, SC in next 2 stitches, repeat around
Rd 22: SC Decrease, SC in next stitch, repeat around
Stuff with regular polyfil (not beads)
Rd 23: SC Decrease around until closed.
Fasten off and weave in ends. Sew a couple strands of yarn to the top for “hair.” Separate 4-ply yarn to give a fluffy effect.
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 6 SC in ring, join, pull tight. Fasten off leaving long tail to sew onto turkey head. Add safety eyes to the center.
Magic Ring, chain 1, and make 3 SC in ring, continue to work in rounds
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around (6 SC)
Chain 6, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down., Fasten off and sew onto side of beak.
Feet (make 2):
Chain 13, HDC in second chain from hook and rest of the way down chain, chain 5, HDC in second chain from hook and remaining 3, join to the center of last HDC in starting chain, chain 6, HDC in second chain from hook and remaining 4, join to edge (technically this is the first stitch on other side of starting chain), chain 5, HDC in second chain from hook and remaining 3, join with slip stitch, fasten off.
Feathers:
Chain 21, SC in second chain from hook, HDC in next, DC in next 16, HDC in next, SC in last, chain 2, sc in second chain from hook, now working on other side of chain, SC, HDC, DC in next 16, HDC, SC in last, chain 2, SC in second chain from hook, join to first SC, fasten off.
Tip: Attach pipe cleaners to back of feathers so they stand up straight.
