Yarnspirations Little Forest Friends LookBook

March 16, 2016

FoxYarnspirations3

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the new Yarnspirations Little Forest Friends Lookbook you are in for a treat! It features an adorable woodland theme in a collection of garments, toys, and baby wear  – a total of 16 FREE crochet and knit patterns! I love the mix of colors and textures in the variety of yarns used. Truly a wonderful combination of brands with different weights ranging from bulky to plush to super soft and skinny. I had the pleasure of making two pieces from the Fox set: The “Like a Fox! Blanket” using Bernat Softee Baby Chunky, and “Francis the Fox” using Caron Simply Soft and Bernat Pipsqueak. They turned out so cute and my daughter is loving her new comfy hooded blanket and cuddly critter! Although Francis is now Francine 🙂 I switched out the green neck tie from the original pattern for a cute little hair bow.

This fox hooded blanket was a super simple pattern where the bulk of it is worked in two stitches: single crochet and chain. I love repetitive patterns that allow me to multitask when I crochet 🙂 And the smooth and soft Bernat Softee Baby yarn is an ease to work with. One of my favorite yarns for sure! I added a little bow to the fox ear. More on that below.

A little more intricate but still a fun pattern, Francis… I mean Francine the Fox turn out fabulous! I will admit that I was a little skeptical and intimidated by the Pipsqueak yarn but it wasn’t a big deal. Let me give you some tips. If you haven’t worked with Bernat Pipsqueak before it can be a little tricky. It’s a plush, furry yarn and that makes the stitches hard to see. But the good thing is, that if you miss a stitch (or 3) you can’t tell! The “beard” is worked in a half circle so basically if you are following the increases (not worrying about the exact place each stitch is made), you will be fine! You can’t even tell that I completely flubbed up this part of the pattern!

The original pattern features a necktie but I added a girly twist with this crocheted bow!

Chain 15, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down, chain 1, turn (14 SC)
Row 2-4: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (14 SC)
When you get to the end of row 4, continue to SC around entire bow.
Wrap a long strand of yarn around the middle about 20-30 times. Tie and weave in loose end so it’s secure. Hot glue a hair clip to the back so it’s removable or sew it directly onto your stuffy.

You can use the same pattern with different yarn for the fox hoodie! Feel free to add rows to make the bow larger or add to your starting chain to make it longer.

The fox blanket is so adorable, and so is the little darling snuggling it! That beautiful smile brightened my morning. Will definitely take a look at the lookbook, as my daughter love animals and will probably want them all!

    Hi
I’m making the blanket and the hood wants me to start on stitch 49. That will make the hood not centered on the blanket. Is that correct?
    Thanks.

Recently I was looking for a warm jumpsuit for my nephew – it seemed like a simple task, but it turned out that finding a store with normal service and quality items is not so easy. In one place they did not answer the call, and in another – they sent the wrong size. After such an experience, I decided to look at reviews in advance through the https://rebel.pissedconsumer.com/review.html . It was interesting to read, because people describe real situations – both good and not so. It helped me decide whether to get involved.
