When I first laid eyes on the new Caron Sprinkle Cakes Yarn I knew immediately what I wanted to make. This particular color is called “Birthday Cake” and it reminded me of the funfetti Beanie Babies I used to have (if you don’t remember the Beanie Babies craze from the 90’s see it HERE). You can crochet this Sprinkle Cakes Birthday Bear with only ONE skein of Caron Sprinkle Cakes yarn! Yes, only ONE cake of yarn! I promise! You will even have leftovers!
Here is Sprinkle Bear with the leftover yarn!
About the yarn:
Caron Sprinkle Cakes has a subtle yet colorful “sprinkle” of tweed throughout the self-striping ball.
– Tapestry Needle
– Poly-fil fiber stuffing
– 12mm safety eyes
– Safety nose (purchase HERE)
A note about this project:
Since this a self-striping yarn, I got a little creative with my skein. I started in the center (which had the lightest shade of cream in my particular cake – work from the outside of the cake if this isn’t the case for you) and was able to make the head and ears before I got the dark gray/brown part of the yarn. I cut that part out so I could use it separately. Then I went ahead and crocheted the body with the next lightest part of the skein (feel free to pull from outer edge as well depending on how your skein stripes). I used the dark gray portion (that I had cut out) for the beginning of the feet, the inside ears, and the snout. I had yarn left over in both light and dark!

What a great idea and a good excuse to try out Caron Yarn Cake. I made your headphones hat for the son of my daughter’s former 3rd grade teacher since his dad used to DJ. It was a hit.
He’s absolutely adorable Sarah. Beautiful yarn choice.
I love this Bear!!! There is just something special about a little snuggly thing. This is the perfect Birthday gift, and I have to nephews with special days coming up. Thank you!
Thank you for another great pattern! It’s perfect!
It`s too cute to be real! This yarn with small colorful accents is amazing.

I love this pattern. I’m going to make two for my niece and nephew who will be born in 3 months. How do you sew the arms and legs together?
Wondering.., do you have free pattern of ducky?
So adorable! Thank you for sharing the pattern.
I loved this pattern… until I got to the feet. I’ve tried making them 4 times but the pattern doesn’t seem to be as detailed As the rest of the pattern, or possibly there’s an error? It was just odd that I was able to cruise through the rest of the pattern with no issues only to be completely flummoxed by the feet. Any guidance you could provide would be very much appreciated.
I’m thinking that perhaps you are having the same “huh?” I had on first read through… on round two of the feet, it is an increase in each stitch.. but there is a small oversight on the first bit. The Ch2 (first stitch after join) counts as the first dc, so dc in same stitch, 2 dc in next st, 2HDC in the next stitch, 2 sc in each on the next 2 stitches, 2 HDC in last stitch, then join in top of begining chain 2.
Thanks this fixed my problem too!
Adorable bear, however I do see a few issues with the steps/order of the pattern. For example, on the page, you make the body first, then “sew on head” which is listed in the pattern after the feet. Also, on the head portion, “now would be a good time to sew on safety eyes and nose”, while the stitches for the snout and nose are listed after the head.
Great pattern !
What a sweet little bear !!!
Can you tell me what round you attach the feet on and how many stitches between them?
Also when you attach the head..are you attaching round one of the head to the neck? And then the last rounds of the head are actually the top of the head?
Thanks! I was so worried my skein had too much dark and I wouldn’t be able to finish the bear…but I had plenty left over! Great pattern! Thanks so much!
Love the yarn
Thank you for the great pattern. I’ve made one using the Sprinkles Cakes yarn one using Baby Bernat yarn.
I love this bear it’s so cute! I am having difficulty with the legs portion. I am ending up with way more stitches than I think I’m suppose to. Would you be able to tell me how many stitches I am suppose to have for round 2 and 3? I keep ending up with more than 18 at round 3 and 4.
I’m sooo disappointed they’ve discontinued this yarn! I still want to make dozens of these bears. They’re adorable!
Sad day!! This yarn has been discontinued! Do you have a recommendation for alternative??
Sajnos nem tudom megnyitni a videót :(( valaki el tudná küldeni az email. címemre? iskolás gyerekekkel szeretném megcsinálni , előre is hálás köszönet!!! Bartók Enikő
