50-Minute Fingerless Crochet Gloves

December 28, 2017

These crochet fingerless gloves are so simple you can easily make a pair in less than an hour! Perfect for the Fall, Winter and chilly Spring days. They make a great gift as well!

This crochet project is part of the “Crochet Kit That Never Happened” which you can read all about HERE. Long story short,  I wrote the pattern almost 4 years ago for a crochet kit that was to be published and sold in stores, but retail never picked it up and now I’m getting to share the pattern with you for free! Yay!

Materials:

  • One skein of worsted weight yarn. I recommend Bernat Super Value. Shop all 73 shades HERE at Yarnspirations.com.
  • Size H Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle

Abbreviations:

Ch = Chain

Sl St = Slip Stitch

SC = Single Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

Fingerless Gloves Pattern:

Make 2. Both gloves work up the same way.

Chain 24, join to first chain to make a circle and chain 2. Be sure not to twist your chain.

Round 2-9: DC in each stitch around, join to first DC, chain 2

Round 10: (Here is where you will make the thumb hole) DC in first 20 stitches, chain 4 and skip the last 4 stitches. Join to first double crochet, chain 2

Round 11-12: DC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 on round 11 and chain 1 after round 12.

Round 13: SC in each stitch around, join to first SC, fasten off and weave in ends.

Stay Warm! Crochet More!

      Hi I love your crochet hook. It looks like Susan Bates which I love. I don’t like the ones in our local stores. I also love your video, you gave great directions. I have been making these gloves for a long time and this pattern is our favorite. I make mine like yours except I think I ch 5 instead of 4. They are so easy and fast and that is what I like too. Thanks for sharing your pattern. I just came up with the idea and it worked. I don’t ever tell people that it is my inventions I just do it. They like it or they don’t.

    Hello Ms. ZIMMERMAN, i’ve tried and have failed on these. I got the DC pretty well, when I get to the hole it goes downhill and when I try them on (because I keep going hoping they will look somewhat like the end results), but I barely can slip them on my hands. I am hopeless, but I truly want to learn. Ty

    Hi Sara. My daughter is moving to New York for school in Jan 2021. I was wondering if you have a pattern for the fingerless gloves that have an attachable flap that can keep her fingers warm when needed. I was hoping to make them for a Christmas present with a scarf. I love your patterns for gifts. Thank you!

    I have recently started crocheting gloves because I think they are really cute and I can design them in any color I want. Another reason why I like to crochet gloves is that they are not too heavy and provide warmth without the bulk of having to wear an entire glove. These fingerless crochet gloves are perfect for when you are feeling too warm or your hands are cold because you can simply put the gloves on your fingers and adjust the cuff around your wrists. Although these gloves are perfect for the winter, they are also great in the summer when you want to wear light layers or maybe even wear them when you are knitting.

    Our ten years of experience in designing and classifying crochet stitches gives us the expertise to teach you how to crochet these gloves. We compiled this instructional guide so that even beginners can learn how to create fingerless gloves from scratch. It is our hope that you will experiment with different styles and techniques, explore the diverse texture and color combination possibilities, too.
