Have you seen the new pet friendly yarn?! Bernat Blanket Pet is a new yarn made especially for your fur babies! It’s covered in a special coating that protects it from odor yet has the same ultra soft chenille feel as the original Bernat Blanket yarn! It is currently available at Michaels Craft Stores.
This yarn couldn’t have hit the market at a better time because we recently adopted a puppy! Max is a Maltipoo (Maltese and Poodle Mix) and weighs in at only 2lbs! He is 12 weeks old and the whole family absolutely adores him. He has his own Instagram page HERE if you guys want to follow his growth (@minimaximillion).
Since he is a puppy and chewing on EVERYTHING, I decided that my first project with Bernat Blanket Pet yarn would be a squeaker toy! You can actually purchase squeakers on Amazon to stuff inside your crochet projects. And the dark gray and denim blue colors were perfect for a little elephant! The body has 3 squeakers in it and the head has one squeaker. I left the legs empty but that would be another great place for squeakers as well! The yarn is so plush I didn’t need to stuff any of the parts with poly-fil. Which is probably best because I have a feeling little Max would find a way to get poly-fil stuffing out of the toy and all over our house.

I must make this!
Very cute. Does the yarn fray at all with those little puppy teeth?
