Crochet SnowGlobe Ornaments

December 5, 2018

Happy December! With only 20 days until Christmas I know you don’t want to think about putting another big crochet project on your hooks. So I am giving you these super simple Crochet SnowGlobe Ornaments that you can hook up in just 15 minutes! I had a lot of fun in the button aisle of JOANNs and pretty much bought every Christmas button I saw 🙂 Add them to the center circle for the perfect snowglobe scene!

Materials:
– Bernat Super Value Yarn in Cool Blue, Berry Red, and White. You could also use Grey, Black, Brown, or Dark Blue for the base. Shop colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Small tapestry needle or sewing needle
– Christmas Buttons! If you don’t have a JOANNs nearby you can also purchase them HERE on Amazon.com through my affiliate link.

I have created a video tutorial for you! Follow along to see how I crochet these snowglobes! Written pattern is also provided below.

Crochet SnowGlobe Pattern:
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join to first SC, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 4: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 4, repeat around, join, chain 1 (36 SC)
switch to white yarn
Round 5: SC in each stitch around (36 SC)
add in red yarn (or black/brown/grey), join, chain 1
Row 6: SC in first 7, chain 1, turn
Row 7: 2 SC in first, SC in next 5, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 8-9: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Use tapestry needle to sew on cute Christmas buttons to the center of your snowglobes! Don’t forget the snowflake buttons! Those are a must.

Cut a strand of white yarn and string it through the top of the ornament so it can hang.

Stitch up those SnowGlobes and be sure to tag me on social media using @RepeatCrafterMe or #RepeatCrafterMe

JUST ADDED
Julie McCready who is a part of my Repeat Crafter Me Crochet Facebook Group has made a slightly bigger crochet ornament with the most adorable Nativity Scene buttons! She said she found the buttons at Hobby Lobby but you can find a very similar set HERE on Amazon.

Here is the pattern for the larger ornament:
Starting with blue
Magic Ring, chain 2 and make 12 DC in ring, join to first DC, chain 2
Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (24 DC)
Round 3: 2 DC in the first stitch, DC in next, repeat around, join, chain 2 (36 DC)
Round 4: 2 DC in the first stitch, DC in the next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1 (48 DC)
switch to white yarn
Round 5: SC in each stitch around (48 SC)
join in red yarn
Row 6: SC in first 12, chain 1, turn
Row 7: 2 SC in first, SC in next 10, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 8-11: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn

There’s supposed to be 20. You have to make sure to slip join in the chain 1 from the previous round. Then you start on the first SC. I made my chain 1 big and put a marker in it to keep it from getting small and I got them to all line up with her counts.

Can you do this without the magic ring and just chaining and slip stitching the ends of the chain together? Would you do 10 chains? Thanks.

I made 20 of these for my granddaughter to put in the goody bags at her kindergarten class Christmas party last year. They were a huge hit. I did glue craft foam on the back of each one to help them maintain their shape and it gave me a place to write “Christmas 2018” on the back. Great pattern and one I’ll definitely use again.

Hi! I used adhesive backed felt on the back for the same reason. But did the craft foam work better and what did you glue it on with? Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Oh my goodness! So amazingly simple and adorable. I have a 10yo, who loves snow globes. One of his very special ones, from his great grandma, who passed away, was broken recently. Nothing can replace it, but I’m whipping him up a set of these, for his bedroom Christmas tree. He will be so surprised and will love them. Thanks!!!

I have the sam issue with the curling and have tried to fix it every possible way. The only thing that sorta worked was just starting with 9 single crochet. Then I followed the pattern and I think ended up on odd number with the white. Then I followed the pattern for the red base as is written. It worked pretty well. Basically, just fiddle with the number and don’t worry too much about the end count, if that make sense.
