I decided to leave off the heart on the belly but you could definitely add one if you’d like!

Heart Pattern:
Chain 21, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (20 SC)
Row 2: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 18, 2 SC in last stitch, chain 1, turn (22 SC)
Row 3- 10: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (22 SC)
Row 11: SC decrease over first two stitches, SC in remaining stitches, chain 1, turn
Row 12: SC in first 12 stitches (leave remaining stitches unworked), chain 1, turn
Row 13-20: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (12 SC)
Row 21: SC decrease over first two stitches, SC in next 8, SC decrease over last two,
Continue to SC around entire heart. When you get to bottom stitch (the one with the your slip knot) SC + Chain 1 + SC all in one stitch. Then when you get to the top “v” indent, slip stitch (instead of SC). Join, fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto tummy.

Here is a video on how to sew the limbs onto the body!

Love this bear and had already started the original size when I saw your enlarged version. Does this take a full 2 skeins for the MC or can I get away with a large and maybe 1 small. I know, I know – just get started and you’ll soon find out! 🙂 I’m new to your site and so far, so good. I’ll be signing up for your FB page too. I especially like the video how-to’s for assembly of this bear. Thanks again.

I’m pretty sure that just the numbering is off, and that was copied from the instructions for the small bear. I just finished the feet and did the 3 rows of sc around after row 5, and then went to row 7. They look right to me.

I love this bear and have left over yarn from baby blanket for my 1st grandson!! Will be making it.
I am confused on the arms. It say to: not join but work in the round, then next round says to join and Ch1. What is the correct way?
All join, ch1 make an unsightly seam. could we just continue in the round?

The heart is way off unfortunately. It is much too large for the large bear’s belly so I also just left it off. The rest of the bear is wonderful.

What is the gauge on the large bear. Gauge for small bear given but not on large one.
Also, row numbering is confusing /possibly incorrect on some of the rows.

I found your velvet teddy bear pattern on repeat crafter. I see the version for the small pattern. Is there a printable version of the large one? I am planning on working on it during our vacation but won’t have internet to look it up.

I cannot thank you enough for this pattern. I am making a stuffie for a friend who is missing home and struggling terribly, I started the original Bernat bear pattern but realized it was far too small for her. I’ve been trying to figure out how to enlarge the pattern but it hasn’t been working out. Now I see you’ve done it for me!! THANK YOU!!!
