You must know by now that I love Owls! My Owl hat pattern is one of my most popular crochet patterns that I’ve ever posted and it gave me the idea to make a blanket! It’s almost like I turned the hat into blanket form! I do love the bold stripes and I think this blanket would be adorable without the applique eyes as well. So many things you could do with this design!
Materials:
Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in: Cafe Latte, Pale Plum, Cornmeal, Country Blue, Flamingo, Frosty Green, and Black and White. Super Saver Yarn is coming soon to Yarnspirations.com!
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
Blanket Pattern:
(feel free to use an colors and any order of colors you’d like)
With color 1 yarn
chain 126, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (125 SC)
Row 2-25: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (125 SC)
Add in brown yarn
Row 26-33: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (125 SC)
Add in color 2 yarn
Row 35-58: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (125 SC)
Add in brown yarn
Row 59-66: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (125 SC)
Repeat making 25 rows of each color and 8 rows of brown repeating. Make as big as you want or do what I did and use 5 stripes of colors and 4 stripes of brown.
Eyes pattern:
with black
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join in white yarn, chain 1 (10 SC)
With white
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 4: SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off leaving long tail (30 SC)
You can also make eyes all white and stitch on eyelash embellishments.
Beak:
with yellow yarn
Chain 7, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn
Row 2: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, SC Decrease over last, chain 1, turn
Row 3: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
Row 4: SC Decrease twice, chain 1, turn
Row 5: SC Decrease, fasten off leaving long tail
Stitch eyes onto blanket
Add tassels to the 4 corners! No border needed!
Simple and Cute!!
Zoe has her best friend Alina visiting from Seattle for a couple days! They are so excited to snuggle with this blanket!
