Fixing a Torn Crochet Blanket

February 7, 2020

Has this happened to you before? You wash your crochet blanket after it has been well loved only to see some of your stitches pulling apart or tearing?!

A friend of mine was in a panic this morning because her daughters favorite crochet blanket (her comfort blanky) was ripping apart. I told her to drop off the blanket at my house and I would see what I could do.

Fortunately the double crochet stitches along the tear line were still in pretty good shape. I was able to repair the blanket by stitching the double crochets back together with a tapestry needle and a long strand of yarn that was as close to a color match as possible.

I hope this video tutorial helps in your repair situations as well!

It’s not perfect, but the blanket is saved!
