Crochet Hand Sanitizer Holder

It’s a scary time right now. I am sure many of you are worried about the Coronavirus Pandemic as much as I am. We are doing our best to stay calm, prepared, and healthy. We are washing our hands and using sanitizer when we are out and about. My kids are still in school (our district hasn’t cancelled yet) and I have attached a Spring Character Crochet Hand Sanitizer Holder to all of their backpacks! Plus I have one in my purse at all times. You can leave the main crochet holder as a simple color or crochet some extra embellishments to turn it into a cute character or critter. I am in the spring spirit and made a sheep, chick, and bunny! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Materials:
– Caron Simply Soft Yarn. Shop all colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com
– Size F Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
– 2oz bottle of hand sanitizer (it fits both Purell and Target Brand)

Hand Sanitizer Holder Pattern:
Chain 15, join, chain 1
Round 1: 15 SC around chain, join, chain 1
Round 2: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
Round 3: 2 SC in first, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1
Round 4-16: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
Round 17: SC in first 10, leave remaining stitches unworkable, chain 1, turn
Row 18: SC Decrease, SC in next 6, SC Decrease over last two, chain 1, turn
Row 19: SC Decrease, SC in next 4, SC Decrease over last two, chain 1, turn
Row 20: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, SC Decrease over last two, chain 1, turn
Row 21-24: SC in each stitch across, chain 5, join to first SC to make a loop that will go over the button. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Sheep Ear: make 2
chain 7, SC in second chain from hook and next two, HDC in next two, 4 DC in last. Now working on other side of chain, HDC in next two, SC in last 3. fasten off leaving long tail

Sheep Head:
starting with gray yarn
Chain 5, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn
Row 2: 2 SC in first, SC in next 2, 2 SC in lat, chain 1, turn
Row 3-4: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
Row 5: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, SC Decrease, chain 1
continue to SC around edges of head when you get back to the top, join in white yarn, make 3 bobble stitches, fasten off. Leave long tail stitch onto holder.

Bunny Ear: make 2
Chain 11, SC in second chain from hook and in next 5, HDC in next 3, 4 DC in last. Now working on other side of chain, HDC in next 3, SC in remaining stitches. Fasten off leaving long tail.

Chick Beak:
Chain 4, SC in second chain from hook, HDC in next, DC in last, fasten off leaving long tail.
