Crochet Cluster V-Stitch Hat with Bernat POP! Yarn

May 25, 2020

With a ball of Bernat Pop! Yarn, you can make at least two Crochet Cluster V-Stitch Hats! I love this particular color called “POP ART” which has an adorable neon/spring rainbow colo way. No sense in buying multiple skeins of (red, orange, yellow, green, blue) yarn, all the colors you need are right here! I decided to deconstruct the ball before crocheting with it. This means that I separated the colors and crocheted with them as needed so I could get perfect rows of color.

SHOP Bernat Pop! YARN HERE on Yarnspirations.com

I am using the cluster v-stitch for the main part of the hat. This is basically the same pattern as my Messy Bun Hats, except you won’t have a hole at the top and I changed the brim a bit. You can find my Messy Bun Hats HERE.

The cluster v-stitch works up super fast and you can make these hats in no time at all! This hat comes in 3 sizes: Large, Medium, and Small. The Large fits a teen/adult, the medium is for an older child, and the small is a younger child. You can easily adjust the hook size, tension, and even yarn thickness (if you choose a different yarn) to create different sizes if desired.

Hat sizes when laid flat: (not including pom)
Large: 10 inches wide x 9 inches tall
Medium: 8.75 inches wide x 8 inches tall
Small: 7.5 inches wide x 7 inches tall
Doll: 5 inches wide x 4 inches tall

I have made a video tutorial for you explaining the v-stitch and how to make all the increase rows of the medium size hat. I will also walk you through the ribbed edging.

I love so many of your patterns and want to thank you for so generously sharing them with us. I’m “old school” and like to work from a printed pattern. Other than copying and pasting is there a way for me to print the instructions only? I have looked for a “print pattern” link on some of your projects but have never found one. Am I missing something?

    Again, thank you.

Like the rest of our service industry family, we are doing our best to take things day by day. The amount of misinformation and the utter lack of information has so many of our heads spinning. All of us are doing our best to keep our heads above water and I can say that collectively, your Birmingham bar and restaurant family thanks every single one of you for your support and patronage from the very depths of our hearts. We don’t know what today or tomorrow or next week or next month has in store for any of us small business owners. We have so many questions that are going unanswered. It’s a scary landscape to try to navigate and for once it makes it worse that you aren’t going through it alone. That being said, until we are told something definitively, Shu Shop will continue with curbside today, starting at 5pm. We’re gonna’ listen to bad hair metal. We’re gonna’ laugh and make jokes at one another. We’re gonna’ air high five and air hug through the glass windows. And we’re all gonna’ help each other stay afloat, because that’s what real Birmingham strong is.

Could you please post this pattern on Ravelry so I can link to it? I’ve made a child size of these hats using the Caron X Pantone hat and it’s adorable. Thank you for all the patterns!
