Crochet Tall Tote Bag

A new project tote is just what we all needed for our Spring Season crochet projects! I stocked up on some new yarn from @MichaelsStores! They have such a vast selection of seasonal products as well as yarn that is available all year round. I was drawn to this Bernat Bundle Up yarn because of it’s pretty Spring color palette and it’s super soft texture. I created a Tall Tote Bag with plenty of pocket storage for all my crochet tools and works in progress! This reusable bag is perfect for carrying all the essentials while I’m on-the-go. 

I crocheted with two strands at once to make the tote extra sturdy and I love how the wide stripes and thick shoulder strap make it fun and functional!

Materials:
– Bernat Bundle Up Yarn in colors:
Beluga, Blue Dawn, Icy Aqua, Little Leaf, and Marshmallow.

– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle

Tall Tote Bag Pattern
works from the bottom up.
With Beluga (dark blue yarn)…Use a double strand of yarn (hold two strands together at once)
Chain 31, SC in second chain from hook and rest of the way down chain, make 6 SC in last chain, now working on other side of chain, SC in each chain, make 6 SC in last, join to first SC
Round 2: SC in each stitch around making 2 SC in each of 6 stitches on either end, join, chain 1
Round 3-10: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
change to Marshmallow white yarn
Round 11-12; SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
change to Blue Dawn yarn
Round 13-22: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
change to white yarn
Round 23-24: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
change to Icy Aqua yarn
Round 25-34: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
change to white yarn
Round 35-36: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
change to Little Leaf green yarn
Round 37-46: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
change to white yarn
Round 47-48: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
change back to Beluga dark blue yarn
Round 49-50: SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off yarn.

Now let’s make the straps.
Attach blue yarn in the center of the bag (count 16 stitches back from join), SC in 34 stitches, chain 1, turn
Row 2: SC decrease, SC in each stitch across until last two, SC Decrease over last two, chain 1, turn
Row 3: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 and until you have 10 stitches left.
SC in each stitch across for another 24 rows. Fasten off
Repeat on other side to make second strap.
When finished SC around both straps/edges and single crochet top straps together.

Pockets: make 2
with dark blue
Chain 21, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn
Row 2-20: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
after last row, SC around entire square.
Stitch onto either side of tote

Hook Storage Pocket:
Chain 11, SC in second chain from hook and rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn
Row 2-16: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
Change color as noted below:
4 rows light blue, 2 rows white, 4 rows aqua blue, 2 rows white, 4 rows green.
Turn sideways and stitch onto one of the pockets.
