Remember the Red Heart Stitch-A-Saurus I made for Yarnspirations last year?! I have re-purposed the pattern and made it into a Unicorn just by changing a few colors and adding some stitches!
You will want to download the FREE Squish-A-Saurus Pattern HERE on Yarnspirations because you will follow the same pattern for the body and the head. Then read below for pattern additions.
Crochet Unicorn Amigurumi (based off of the Squish-a-Saurus)
Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Saffron, White, Perfect Pink, Turqua, and Medium Purple.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Poly-fil Fiber Stuffing
– 12mm Black Safety eyes
– Stitch-A-Saurus Pattern
Body: Same as Squish-a-Saurus pattern but with white yarn
Head: Same as Squish-a-Saurus pattern but start with yellow and change color to white after round 10.
Arms: Same as Squish-a-Saurus pattern but start with yellow and change color to white after 6th round.
Feet (make 2)
Starting with yellow yarn
beg using magic loop method, demonstrated here.
1st rnd: Ch 1. 6 sc in ring. Join.
2nd rnd: Ch 2. 2 dc in each of next 2 sts. 2 hdc in each of next 2 sts. 2 sc in each of next 2 sts. Join. 12 sts.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each st around. Join. 24 sts.
4th and 5th rnds: Ch1.1 sc in each st around. Join.
6th rnd: Ch 1. (Sc2tog) 5 times. 1 sc in each of the last 14 sts. Join. 19 sts.
change to white yarn
7th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st around.
8th rnd: Ch 1. (Sc2tog) 3 times. 1 sc in each of last 13 sts. Join. 16 sts.
9th -12th rnd: Ch1.1 sc in each st around. Join. Fasten off.
Unicorn Horn:
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 4 SC inside ring, do not join, continue to SC in rounds. Use a stitch marker if needed.
Round 2: SC in each stitch around (4 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, repeat around (6 SC)
Round 4: SC in each stitch around (6 SC)
Round 5: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 2, repeat around (8 SC)
Round 6: SC in each stitch around (8 SC)
Round 7: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 3, repeat around (10 SC)
Round 8: SC in each stitch around (10 SC)
Round 9: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 4, repeat around (12 SC)
Round 10: SC in each stitch around (12 SC)
Round 11: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 5, repeat around (14 SC)
Round 12: SC in each stitch around (14 SC)
Fasten off leaving long tail to sew onto hat. Stuff with poly-fil and with your tapestry needle, sew horn about two rounds back from eyes.
Unicorn Mane:
Cut four 12 inch strands of yarn and loop through SC stitches on head. Repeat in 5 times with each color and trim when mane in full and finished.
Tail: Loop 12 strands of yarn through a stitch on the lower back of body. Braid and knot at the end.
Do NOT crochet tail of Stitch-A-Saurus!

The dinosaur pattern has incorrect leg rows, it stops at 8. This makes the legs look like little stumps. Also, the eyes on the pattern say 5mm. These are way too small.
