Crochet C2C Bird Blanket

May 17, 2021

I’m finally finished with my Sparrow Bird Blanket! I will admit that I had plans to make this much larger with many more bird squares and a birdhouse in the middle… but life is very hectic right now. We are in the middle of moving.. actually we are still prepping for our move to Arizona this summer and it has taken over our lives. We are excited and nervous and more than ready to get settled! In the meantime, I have decided that I need to focus on smaller crochet projects because larger ones are too much for me right now. So I used 4 of my finished Sparrow C2C Squares and joined them together with a beautiful Tulip Border that is perfect for the Spring season. Measuring about 32 x 32 inches, this sweet little blanket will be perfect for a little one or a cute couch throw. As always, you can make your blanket much bigger if you’d like by adding in more squares or continuing the border!

To make the Sparrow Corner-to-Corner Squares, please refer to THIS PATTERN POST

To make the Birdhouse Corner-to-Corner Square, please refer to THIS PATTERN POST

I used Red Heart Super Saver Yarn for this project! You can find the material list in the Sparrow and Birdhouse Square posts but in additional to those colors, I used Red Heart Super Saver in Spring Green and Pink for the edging. I didn’t use more than one skein for this blanket.

Shop all yarn colors of Red Heart Super Saver HERE on Yarnspirations.com!

Once you have your squares made, you can start adding some edging and then join them together.

I first went around each square with same blue yarn I used in the background of my bird squares to make an even edge. You will want to make a SC between each pixel square and then chain 2 in between. Make a SC + chain 2 + SC in each corner.

Then continue around again making 2 SC in each chain 2 spaces from the previous round. Make 2 SC + chain 2 + 2 SC in each corner.

Then I went ahead and made a round of HDC stitches in saffron yellow in each stitch around (HDC + chain 2 + HDC in each corner).

Then go ahead and join all your squares! I made it really simple and slip stitched the front loops together.

Now working along the border of the entire blanket…

with brown yarn,
SC in each stitch around (2 SC + chain 2 + 2 SC in corners)
Do this for a total of two rounds.
Then to make your tulips you will start with green yarn and make v-stitches all the way around.
V-stitch = DC + chain 1 + DC all in one stitch
Make a v-stitch in the first stitch, skip 2 stitches, v-stitch in next, repeat around making one v-stitch in each corner.

Then with pink yarn you will make a puff stitch in the center chain of each v-stitch. Refer to the video below for a clearer explanation of how to do this! You will make a puff stitch + chain 2 in each v-stitch space all the way around. Join to first puff stitch and fasten off pink yarn.

To finish off your border, add another two rounds of SC in brown. You will first SC (with brown) in the top of each puff stitch and then make 2 SC in between each puff stitch. 2 SC + Chain 2 + 2 SC in the corners. Then the next round is just a simple SC in each stitch around and repeat the same corner as before.

Lastly, you will make a final round of HDC stitches in saffron yellow! HDC + Chain 2 + HDC in the corners.

So pretty!

A sweet Spring blanket to add to your to-do list!

Elite jackets are often more expensive than other types of jackets, but they can be a good investment for people who want a high-quality jacket that will last for many years.

Sprunked environmental effects are impressive. The lighting and weather systems create a realistic and immersive world. I’ve found myself stopping just to admire a sunset or watch a storm pass. It’s these details that make the game special.

Try the new nyt zorse game, an exciting word game inspired by the New York Times. In this game, you start with a clue and see a series of blank tiles. As you reveal letters, they spell out a phrase related to the hint.

It’s completely understandable to scale down larger projects when life gets hectic. The ‘smaller crochet projects’ approach clearly paid off here, as this blanket truly shines. The tulip border really gives it such a fresh, spring feel, making it perfect for a baby or as a cheerful couch throw.
