Happy Fall! I love customizing these Caron Harvest Crochet Pumpkins. With just a few embellishments you can make them into so many different characters and animals! The basic pumpkin pattern is free on Yarnspirations.com and it has been one of my go-to’s for years. It really is simple! No extra sewing. All you need to do is alternate between SC and DC stitches to create the bumps and groves of the pumpkin.

Now let’s talk about how to turn this pumpkin into an owl pumpkin!

I am using Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in colors Carrot (for the pumpkin), Soft white and Beige Brown for the eyes, Saffron Yellow for the nose, and Cafe Latte for the stem.
Once you have the pumpkin finished, stitch on the details!
Owl Eye Pattern (make 2):
with white
magic ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join to first SC, chain 1 (10 SC)
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around (20 SC)
join in brown yarn and chain 1
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off leaving long tail. (20 SC)
Add a black safety eye to each of the eyes OR with black yarn create a small circle (magic ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, fasten off)
Stitch on owl eyes so they are touching on front of pumpkin
Owl Nose:
Chain 5, SC in second chain from hook, HDC in next, DC in last two chains.
Fasten off and stitch onto owl face so its overlapping the two eyes.
Owl Fringe Ears:
Cut 3 pieces of orange yarn and 3 pieces of brown yarn about 12 inches in length.
Loop and knot through one of the double crochet stitches on top of owl head.
Repeat for second fringe ear.
