I love being able to reuse and repurpose my patterns. The very popular Velvet Valentine Bear can be made in other colors with other embellishments! My original bear was crocheted in pink velvet yarn and it has a cute little heart on the tummy which is perfect for Valentines Day but look at what happens when I use blue velvet yarn and add a scarf to make a winter bear! He’s so cuddly, soft and adorable!

Bernat Velvet yarn is lush and velvety and works really well with this project. The bear pattern is designed with mostly Single Crochet stitches with a size H Crochet hook. The pieces crochet quickly with not very many rounds. I have never had issues with this yarn worming or becoming to slippery with this project!
Be to stuff your bear well with poly-fil fiber stuffing! The stretch with this yarn is great and I don’t have a lot of gaps. Also, I am using 12mm Safety Eyes on this bear and a 17mm safety nose.

I used the same pattern as my BERNAT VELVET VALENTINE BEAR. This is a pattern I designed for Yarnspirations a few years ago and it’s definitely become a fan favorite. It’s completely FREE!

SHOP BERNAT VELVET YARN HERE
I used colors Velveteal for the main bear (you need less than one skein.. in fact, you could make several bears with one skein!) and color Misty Green from the Bernat Baby Velvet line for the scarf and snout. I did use double strands of the baby velvet color because it is thinner than the regular Velvet yarn.
Scarf Pattern:
Chain 50, DC in 3rd chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, fasten off.
knot 3 strands of yarn on both ends to make the fringe.
I have another version of this velvet bear on my crochet hook so you will want to definitely grab this pattern and some yarn! You could use worsted weight yarn for this pattern as well although it might come out a bit smaller.
