Have you seen these Googly Eye Finger Puppet Rings?! They are fun little plastic toy party favor toys that fit around your finger but the best part is that you can crochet around the ring to turn them into cute little characters, animals, and creatures! Put a magnet or pin on the back or attach to a keychain. Lots of possibilities! I made a frog, jellyfish, owl, and yip-yip! All fun and easy!
Materials:
– Google Eye Finger Puppet Rings. Get them HERE on Amazon.com
– Red Heart Super Saver yarn. I used colors Spring Green, Turqua, Cafe Latte, and Shocking Pink
Shop Red Heart Yarn HERE on Yarnspirations.com!
– Size G Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
– Glue Gun
– Small buttons or felt stickers will work well for embellishments
Frog Pattern:
knot yarn around the ring, chain 3 and make 12 DC around ring, fasten off and weave in ends.
Stitch on a strand of black yarn for the smile and glue on two small red buttons.
Owl Pattern:
knot yarn around the ring, chain 3 and make 12 DC around ring, chain 1, turn
Row 2: SC in first 3, 2 HDC in next, 2 DC in next 4, 2 HDC in next, SC in last 3, fasten off and weave in ends.
Beak: Chain 3, SC in second chain from hook, HDC in last, fasten off.
Ears: Knot 3 strands of yarn around each eye. You will need to hot glue these down or they will slip off!
Jellyfish Pattern:
knot yarn around ring, chain 3 and make 12 DC around ring, turn upside down (12 DC become the top of the head), chain 6 and join to other side of DC stitches, chain 12 (or more for longer coil legs), 2 SC in each chain (this will curl the chain and make your first leg), turn and join to first chain in your chain 6, repeat until you have 5 or more legs. Use a dab of hot glue to secure the chain 6 and coiled legs to the googly eyes.
Yip-Yip Pattern:
knot yarn around the ring, chain 3 and make 12 DC around ring, chain 1, turn
Row 2: SC in each stitch, chain 6, join to first SC made, chain 1
Row 3: SC in each stitch around including the chain 6. You are now working in rounds, join, chain 1
Row 4-8: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
Row 9: Pinch bottom together and slip stitch closed. You can slip stitch, chain and leave long loops to create fringe or just add the fringe after you have sewn the bottom closed. The video below explains this better!

I loved this idea and bought some of the googly eyes but I’d really like to make other animals and thought there may be more options and not very good and making up my own ideas so although found these really cute would like more than the 4 simple patterns.

Such a cute idea. I made the yip-yip. I made it a chapstick holder by making it longer and adding a loop on top to hang from my purse. Will post picture on your FB page. As I don’t see an option here to post a picture.
Thank you for all your patterns!

I bought some of these googly eyes and crocheted a couple of the fun patterns above but even while I was crocheting one of the eyes popped out and l’m a bit concerned about child safety ( even over 3 as stated on the eyes ) has anyone else had this problem? The eyes were bought in a national UK company store.
