She’s a Barbie girl in a Barbie world! Zoe is ready for the pink carpet with her new crochet mesh vest. This is a pattern available on Yarnspirations.com as a part of their new Barbie-inspired campaign. Zoe will be decked out in this pretty pink top when we go see the Barbie Movie next week!

The pattern calls for Caron Simply Soft yarn but I decided to use Red Heart Super Saver in color Pretty ‘N Pink. I took two skeins to make the size 8. I added some boho style fringe to the bottom edge as well! If I can find some pink beads, I might string them along the fringe to tame them down a bit.

This pattern is super easy and works in one basic piece! The mesh look is created by making a DC + chain 1 so it stitches up quickly.

Sew or single crochet the sides together and then add some ribbing to the sleeves. The fringe is just 3 strands of yarn looped into every other space along the bottom edge!

I’ve had a few questions about the sleeves. The are directions on how to shape the sleeves in the pattern, but I decided to use one of my favorite (and easy) ribbing techniques >> Single Crochet in the Back Loop Ribbed Border by my friend Daisy Farm Crafts << I use this on so many different projects!

You can find the scrunchie pattern HERE. I made them last year and she still wears them all the time!

Hello- I’m having a major issue when I get to the repeat for the “Shape neck edge” section of the pattern. The 2nd row ends with a “1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in last dc, turn.” So you have 3 dc right there at the end of Row 2. When I turn and go to repeat Row 1, it says to “Ch 3, 1 dc in first dc, 1 dc in next ch 1 space.” Problem is there are now 2 dc in between the starting Ch 3, dc 1 in same, and the next ch 1 space. It pulls the end over if I just dc in the next ch 1 skipping those 2 dc and it does not look right. I did message Yarnspirations with the question. But I was also looking at the picture of your piece above and it looks like you may have done something different. Am I missing something? Thanks!
Hi – I am having major problems with the mesh vest pattern. A video would be very helpful. The “pattern” part is easy, but the way the sleeve and shape neck areas are written is not clear at all I SO wanted to make the vest for my two granddaughters, but I am at a loss understanding the pattern. Please help. Thank you. Sue
