I’m working on a series of projects using my Crochet Cartoon Eyes pattern! These big bold bright eyes bring your crochet stuffed animals and characters patterns to life! Plus they are a great alternative to using safety eyes. This Crochet Jellyfish is the first in the collection!

I am using Red Heart Super Saver yarn and adapted the pattern from my Giant Crochet Jellyfish that I made with Bernat Blanket Yarn.
This is one measures about 20 inches long (from top to bottom of coils) and 8 inches wide. The circumference of the head is about 22 inches round.
Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver in colors Minty (main body) and Aruba Sea (coils and eye color). You will need a bit of black and white for the eyes as well. Shop colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com
Note: Feel free to use any combination of colors from the Red Heart Super Saver line!
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
– Polyfil Fiber Stuffing

First make the Crochet Cartoon Eyes using black, white, and Aruba Sea for the eye color.

Round 9: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (60 SC)
Round 10: 2 SC in first, SC in next 5, repeat around, join, chain 1 (70 SC)
Round 11-23: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (70 SC)
Round 24: SC decrease, SC in next 5, repeat around, join, chain 1 (60 SC)
Round 25: SC in each stitch around (60 SC)
Round 26: SC Decrease, SC in next 4, repeat around, join, chain 1 (50 SC)
Round 27: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (50 SC)
Round 28: in front loops only, skip a stitch, 6 DC in next stitch, skip a stitch, join to next with a slip stitch, skip a stitch, 6 DC in next, skip a stitch, join to next with a slip stitch, repeat around and join. This makes the scalloped edge. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Stitch on your crochet cartoon eyes about 3 stitches apart from each other and about 8 rows up from the bottom.
Stitch on a smile between eyes with black yarn.
Start stuffing jellyfish with Poly-fil fiber stuffing. You will finish stuffing the jellyfish as you attach the bottom piece.
Bottom of Jellyfish Body:
with minty color yarn (or color you used for main jellyfish)
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join to first SC, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 4: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 5: 2 SC in first, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1 (40 SC)
Round 6: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (40 SC)
Round 7: 2 SC in first, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, (50 SC)
Round 8-9: SC in each stitch around, join, (50 SC)
Fasten off leaving extra long tail.
Tentacles (Coils):
Chain anywhere between 60-80 (they can be different lengths), 2 SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down. Fasten off. Leave loose ends to tie onto underside of jellyfish.
Make as many coils as you want! I made 4 in aruba sea and 4 in minty.
So this could be an octopus as well with 8 tentacles!
Attach coils to bottom piece. Tie tightly and don’t worry too much about weaving ends because they will be on the inside of the jellyfish.

Stitch bottom of jellyfish to the jellyfish head (make sure coils are attach first) to the jellyfish body.
Using your tapestry needle, sew edges of the bottom piece to the back loops of the last round of the jellyfish body. There are 50 stitches on both edges so they should line up perfectly.
Finish stuffing with polyfil before completely closing the bottom.
