Crochet Polar Bear Beanie

September 13, 2023

A Polar Bear Beanie is fresh off my hook and it matches the Polar Bear Pocket Scarf I posted earlier this week! It’s time to get cozy because we are in the “BER” months: SeptemBER, OctoBER, NovemBER, DecemBER. As always, there are lots of ways to customize the colors in this pattern and I can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in White, Turqua (or Cherry Red) for ribbing, Dusty Gray, and a bit of Black. Shop these colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle

Before we start the pattern, please be sure and watch THIS TUTORIAL from my friend Daisy Farm Crafts on how to make a single crochet ribbed border. I use this on the bottom of all the hats and it mimics the look of the bear wearing a scarf!

I love this technique because you don’t need to sew the ribbing on separately, it is crochet right onto the edge of the hat! It’s basically a chain 7 (or however long/short your want your ribbed border), SC in each chain until you get back to the hat edge, slip stitch in two stitches along the hat edge and then SC in the back loops of the ribbing and repeat. She has a VERY easy tutorial to follow and you can use this border on many different projects.

Start with the basic HAT PATTERN which comes in sizes Newborn – Adult!

I think you, Look for a scarf made from warm and cozy materials like acrylic, wool, or a blend of these materials. It should provide ample insulation against the cold.
