Crochet Thanksgiving Turkey Pocket Pouches

Crochet Turkey Pocket Pouches are perfect for your Thanksgiving table decor! I am so excited to be hosting our family next week and needed a little something to jazz up the place settings.

These pockets work up quickly and I think they will be a nice centerpiece on each plate. They can hold a napkin and silverware, a note of gratitude, a place card with each persons name, or maybe even some turkey day treats (aka leftover Halloween candy).

Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver in color Cafe Latte Brown for the main body.
– Scrap yarn in colors red, yellow/gold, brown, green, and orange for beak, wattle, and feathers.
Note: I LOVE the mini skeins of Red Heart Super Saver that come in packs of 12! Great for small projects like this.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Safety eyes (optional). I am using THESE oval shaped safety eyes.
– Tapestry Needle

Turkey Body:
with cafe latte brown yarn
Note: pattern works from bottom up and pouch pocket is worked right into the pattern!
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 8 SC in ring, join, chain 1 (8 SC)
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (16 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch, repeat around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 4-10: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 11: Chain 10, skip 10 stitches, join to 11^th stitch in round with a SC, SC in remaining 13 stitches in round, join to first chain, chain 1 (the skipped stitches will be your pocket!)
Round 12: SC in each stitch around including each of the 10 chains, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 13: SC Decrease, SC in next 2 stitches, repeat around, join, chain 1
Round 14: SC Decrease, SC in next stitch, repeat around, join, chain 1 (12 SC)
Round 15: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 16-17: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 18: SC Decrease, SC in next 4, repeat around, join, chain 1 
Round 19: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
Round 20: SC Decrease, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1
Round 21: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, repeat around, around, join, chain 1
Round 22: SC Decrease, SC in next, repeat around, join
Round 23: SC Decrease until top of head is closed.
Add black safety eyes between rows 18 and 19, about 2 stitches apart.

Beak:
with yellow/gold yarn
Chain 3, SC in second chain from hook, DC in last. Fasten off and stitch onto head bellow eyes.

Wattle:
with red yarn
Chain 4, SC in second chain from hook, slip stitch in last two. Fasten off and stitch onto right side of beak.

Adding the Feathers:
with scrap yarn in colors orange/yellow/brown/green/red
Join in first color on side of body about 2 rows down from pocket.
Chain 3, Triple Crochet 4 times in same stitch, chain 3 again and join back down to same spot. Fasten off. Join in next color and repeat on the same side of turkey body. Fasten off and repeat one more time on same side of body.
Now working on other side of body, make 3 more feathers on other side of turkey.
Weave in ends.
