Let’s get started on our 2024 Under the Sea CAL Blanket! The blanket will be made up of 12 circle in a square granny squares that mimic the look of water bubbles! Each month I will be posting the pattern for a new ocean creature that we will stitch to the front of each water bubble crochet square.

You can get started right now and make all 12 of your water bubble squares!
These are simple 12 x 12 circle to a square crochet squares that use double crochet stitches.
I am using Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in colors Light Blue fore the circle bubble and Red Heart Super Saver in color Blue for the background edges.
NOTE: You might want to make more than 12 squares because I will have 3 bonus patterns for a total of 15 squares.
Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Blue ad Light Blue. Shop these colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com. You will need at least 4 skeins of Blue and 2 skeins of Light Blue.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
Circle in a Square Water Bubble Pattern:
Starting with Light Blue yarn
Magic ring, chain 2 and make 10 DC in ring, join, chain 2 (10 DC)
Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (20 DC)
Round 3: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next, join, chain 2 (30 DC)
Round 4: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next, join, chain 2 (45 DC)
Round 5: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next 2, (60 DC)
join in Blue yarn, chain 2, fasten off Light Blue
Round 6: DC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (60 DC)
Round 7: 2 DC + chain 2 + 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next 14, 2 DC + chain 2 + 2 DC in next, DC in next 14, 2 DC + chain 2 + 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next 14, 2 DC + chain 2 + 2 DC in first stitch, DC in last 14, join, chain 2
Round 8-11: DC in in each stitch around making 2 DC + chain 2 + 2 DC in the corners.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
