A not-so-spooky jumbo crochet spider stuffie is exactly what we needed for Halloween! I even used the new Red Heart Super Glow yarn for the eyes so they glow in the dark!
The pattern works up quickly with Bernat Blanket yarn for the body and legs. Repetitive stitches and easy stitch counts help keep you on track when using the black yarn.
Use this oversized spider as a throw pillow for your bed, decor for your couch, or a snuggly buddy.
Finished Size = 30 inches wide (from leg to leg) and 10 inches wide.
Materials:

– Size K Crochet Hook for Spider Body and Legs
– Size H Crochet Hook for Eyes
– Poly-fil Fiber Stuffing
– Tapestry Needle
– 2 Large 20mm Black Safety Eyes
Eyes (make 2):
with super glow yarn and size H crochet hook
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 4: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 5: SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off leaving long tail (30 SC)
Add safety eyes to both crocheted eyes.
Body:
with bernat blanket yarn and size K crochet hook
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1 (10 SC)
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 4: 2 SC in first, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1 (40 SC)
Round 5: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (40 SC)
Round 6: 2 SC in first, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (50 SC)
Round 7: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (50 SC)
Round 8: SC in first, SC in next 4, repeat around, join, chain 1 (60 SC)
Round 9-14: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (60 SC)
Now is a good time to stop and stitch both the eyes to top of spider body between rounds 5-10.
Round 15: SC Decrease, SC in next 4, repeat around, join, chain 1 (50 SC)
Round 16: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (50 SC)
Round 17: SC Decrease, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (40 SC)
Round 18: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (40 SC)
Round 19: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 20: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 21: SC Decrease, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 22: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
stuff with poly-fil before closing
Round 23: SC Decrease around, join, chain 1 (10 SC)
Round 24: SC Decrease until closed.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Legs (make 8):
magic ring, chain 1 and make 8 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2-10: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (8 SC)
pause here and stuff the bottom of leg with poly-fil, take a strand of black yarn and your tapestry needle and stitch row closed between rounds 8 & 9. This creates the bend in the leg.
Round 11-20: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (8 SC)
Fasten off after round 20 and finish stuffing with poly-fil.
Attach 4 legs to each side of body.
