Crochet Snow-Speckled Reindeer Beanie

November 11, 2024

Here is a brand new version of the snow-speckled beanie that includes a row of reindeer! This beanie is crocheted with Christmas colors in Red Heart Super Saver yarn using the waistcoat stitch which gives it the knit look!

Below you will find the written pattern that walks you through the color changes. I am also including a pixel graph if that is easier for you to follow. Each color block equals one waistcoat stitch.

Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver yarn in colors Paddy Green, Cherry Red, and White.
Shop these colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com

– Size H Crochet Hook
– Faux Fur Pom-Pom (optional). I purchased mine HERE on Amazon (affiliate link).
– Tapestry Needle
– Reindeer Pixel Graph for Rounds 1-28 (after ribbing is created) – FREE to Download and Print HERE
– Color Bock Pattern as a PDF Download (free)

NOTE: The pattern works from the bottom up. We will start with the ribbing and then work in rounds. It must start this way for the snow-speckles to look like they are falling in a “v” shape. If we worked from the top down, they will be upside down.

WAISTCOAT (KNIT-LOOK) STITCH: If you can make a single crochet, you can make the waistcoat stitch! It just a matter of where you insert your hook. So instead of crocheting into the tops of the stitches, you will insert your hook in the center post of the stitch (in the middle of the “v” that you see in the front of the stitch) and continue with making a normal single crochet.

Here is a YouTube Short I made that quickly shows you this stitch:

Crochet Snow-Speckled Reindeer Beanie Pattern:
One-Size-Fits-Most

Starting with Ribbing (Brim of Hat)
With green yarn
Chain 9, HDC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (8 HDC)
Row 2-48: in back loops only, HDC in each stitch, chain 1, turn
slip stitch both ends of the ribbing together and SC around the edge of the ribbing with a total stitch count of 64 STITCHES.
Now join in red yarn and chain 1

Using the waistcoat stitch, follow the written color change pattern below or download and print the Reindeer Pixel Graph for Rounds 1-28

Fasten off after round 28 leaving long tail.

With your long tail and tapestry needle, work needle under the front loops of your last round. Keep weaving your tapestry needle under the front loops until end of round and pull to cinch top of hat closed. You will need to weave your strand back and forth a few more times once cinched to completely close the hole in the top.

Add large white pom-pom to the top of the hat!

This hat fits all the kids and adults in our family! If you have a toddler or baby this hat probably won’t fit. You could always adjust your hook size to make this slightly smaller.

It’s definitely giving Home Alone vibes!

If you like this hat, you might like my original Snow-Speckled hat that does come in TWO sizes!

Hey, just wanted to share this, I’ve been using https://bestiptv.is/
for IPTV, and it’s honestly been great. The channel selection is solid, and it works on all my devices without a hitch. If anyone’s looking for a good IPTV option, it’s worth a look!

This stitch is the coolest for colorwork! I tried crochet intarsia before and did not like the “undefined” lines (compared to knitting), then discovered here C2C and loved it, today discovered this and LOVE it!
    Thank you very much!

An interesting article about what to do if your car is illegally towed. If your car has been towed and you need to record all the details to contact the relevant authorities, it is important to have quality photos for evidence. To take clear pictures in difficult conditions, such as indoors or at night https://skylum.com/blog/the-best-camera-settings-for-indoor-photography, I recommend familiarizing yourself with the camera settings for indoor shooting. Here is a useful article with recommendations on settings: Best Camera Settings for Indoor Shooting. This will help you get the evidence you need!

Such a cute and festive idea! I love how the snow-speckled design gives it a wintry, magical feel. The reindeer motif is absolutely adorable, and it looks like the perfect accessory for holiday gatherings. I can’t wait to try this crochet pattern—thanks for sharing the details! The step-by-step instructions seem really easy to follow, too!

Thanks-great article, but I advise against playing this game. Playing various games is my favorite activity. Some time ago, I discovered one online casino called https://air-jet-game.com/ , and it became a pretty good source of income for me. It is a relatively new platform where one can make some real money earnings. A lot of slots, huge variety of games, several modes, free freespins, and generous bonuses-that’s far from the whole list of opportunities waiting for you here. You can experience all this excitement by trying an online casino.

This snow-speckled beanie sounds amazing! Love the idea of reindeer on it. The color combo of Paddy Green, Cherry Red, and White is so festive. I’m a beginner crocheter, and the waistcoat stitch sounds a bit tricky but fun to learn. Can’t wait to try it. Do you think it would look as good with different colored faux fur pom-poms? And how do you think the reindeer would hold up if I made the beanie for a rambunctious kid?

I think there’s a mistake in round 10. i think the first and last numbers in the round were switched. The first number should be 6 and the last number 2.
