The gradual color change adds such beautiful texture and dimension to simple shapes. These Ombre Christmas Trees are a quick and easy make, perfect for decorating mantels, tabletops, or holiday vignettes all season long.
This simple cone shape paired with layered, lacy “branches” is such a satisfying design… and I think this is just the beginning! While these first versions are soft trees stuffed with poly-fil, I have so many fun variations planned:
Stuffed Toy Trees
Add arms, legs, and a cute embroidered face for a plushie that kids (and grown-ups!) will love!

I’m experimenting with adding a ribbed brim so you can actually wear it like a holiday hat! How fun would matching ombré trees be for a family photo or classroom party?

Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver Ombre Yarn in color Green Apple (one skein makes up to 4 trees!)

– Size H Crochet Hook
– Poly-fil Fiber Stuffing
– Tapestry Needle
Finished Size: Approximately 10 inches tall x 7 inches wide x 20 inches around on bottom.
Note: Pattern works from the top down.
Video tutorial that walks you step-by-step through the section (rounds 6 and 7) where you work into the front and back loops, showing exactly where to place your stitches so your tree layers form perfectly.
Note: Adding a photo of what you should see when you are crocheting rounds 6 and 7. You technically will use the front and back loops of Round 5 to complete Rounds 6 and 7. Round 6: The two DC stitches plus the slip stitch will cause the stitches to flip up when worked in the front loops, then on round 7, you will make your SC increase round in the back loops (the loops right behind those flipped up 2 DC stitches).
