For this project, I used Red Heart Super Saver Ombre in the colors Tomato and Green Apple — two of the newest shades in this fun yarn collection. The ombre effect gives you all that gorgeous color movement without ever switching skeins. The yarn does all the work for you!
You can make at least two (and possibly three!) elf hats from one skein of each color, depending on your sizing and brim choices. I originally crocheted the brim edging and pom in solid white yarn, but it felt a little too classic Santa for the elf look. Swapping to the ombre yarn for both the brim and pom added just the right pop of color and kept the design playful and cohesive.
That said, if you want a Santa-style version, go ahead and use White for the brim and pom — it’s the perfect way to turn this pattern into a classic Santa hat!

I used a large clover pom-pom maker and the ombre yarn used for the brim to make a big, bouncy pom-pom to top it off.
