Crochet Turkey Treat Cups

November 13, 2025

I’m adding a brand-new design to my growing collection of crochet cups, just in time for Thanksgiving! These little turkeys are perfect for stuffing with candy or non-candy treats, gift cards, small trinkets, gratitude notes, or even place cards for your holiday table. They make adorable décor, charming gifts, and the sweetest little accents atop each plate at your Thanksgiving feast.

If you’re just now hearing about my crochet cups, you’ll want to check out the other designs in the series:

Christmas Cups, Halloween Cups, Spring Cups, Bunny Cups, and Duck Cups.

This is the perfect project to use whatever yarn you have on hand. I’m using Red Heart Super Saver in Café Latte, Saffron, Cherry Red, Carrot Orange, and Cornmeal—but feel free to make your turkey feathers in any colors you like!

Get the oval safety eyes HERE on Amazon (affiliate link)
Don’t like the way safety eyes poke out inside the cup? Try THIS clever trick for melting the backs so they sit flush.

Materials

  • Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in colors Cafe Latte, Cherry Red, Carrot, Saffron, and Cormeal.
    >>> Shop Yarn HERE on Yarnspirations.com <<<
  • Size K Crochet Hook (when using double strand of yarn)
  • Size H Crochet Hook (when using single strand – beak and wattle only)
  • Large Tapestry Needle
  • Two Black Oval Safety Eyes (purchase HERE on Amazon)

Finished Size: approx. 4″ wide at top (3″ at bottom) × 5″ tall (including feathers)
Note: Hold two strands of yarn together throughout the project for a sturdy cup shape.

Video Tutorial available on my Repeat Crafter Me YouTube Channel!

Turkey Cup Pattern:
with brown yarn (double strand) and size K crochet hook
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join to first SC
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 4: Working in back loops for this round only, SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 5: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 6-11: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 12: Reverse SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off weave in ends.

Feathers (make 4 in different colors – Red, Orange, Yellow, Light Yellow)
with double strand of yarn and size K crochet hook
Chain 10, DC in 4th chain from hook, DC in the next 2, HDC in next, SC in remaining chains, fasten off.
Stitch all 4 feathers side by side on the back inside of cup.
Note: work tapestry needle between stitches so the yarn doesn’t show through on the backside of cup.

Beak:
with yellow yarn (single strand and size H crochet hook)
Chain 3, SC in second chain from hook, DC in last. Fasten off and stitch onto head bellow eyes.

Wattle:
with red yarn (single strand and size H crochet hook)
Chain 4, SC in second chain from hook, slip stitch in last two. Fasten off and stitch onto right side of beak.

These are so cute! I love the idea of using them as place cards. The tip about melting the safety eyes is genius – I always struggle with that! I might try some variegated yarn for the feathers for a more colorful look.

These are absolutely adorable! What a brilliant addition to your crochet cup collection—they are going to make the cutest place card holders for Thanksgiving. I especially love the tip about holding two strands of yarn together for that perfect, sturdy shape. I think I’ll try making a whole ‘flock’ to use up some of my fall-colored stash. Thank you for sharing such a quick, fun, and festive pattern!

When you mentioned using worsted weight yarn and a hook that’s just a bit smaller, that tip helped me get my cup to stand up nicely instead of sagging at the sides.
