Crochet Octopus – Under the Sea CAL Square 5

May 1, 2024

The eight-arm Octopus is joining our Under the Sea crochet-along as square number 5!

Pretty in pink and simple to stitch up! You just need to take your time while stitching down the arms. You can even let them curl a bit!

I’m using Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in color Perfect Pink. Of course you can choose any color you’d like for your Octopus! You can shop all shades of Red Heart Yarn HERE on Yarnspirations.com.

Stock up with Red Heart Super Saver Jumbo Yarn and enjoy the savings! Perfect Pink is being sold in a gift bundle that comes with a Red Heart tote bag that’s perfect for on-the-go.

Video tutorial will be coming soon to my Repeat Crafter Me YouTube Channel! I am attending h+h Americas in Chicago this week and won’t be able to film until I get back home. Thank you for your patience!

UPDATE: Video Tutorial is now available on my YouTube Channel!

Eyes and Smile:
With long strand of black yarn and your tapestry needle, loop yarn around two stitches about 5 times to create small black eyes. These should be placed on the lower part of round two on either side of the magic ring round. Then stitch a small smile between the eyes.

Place Octopus angled diagonally starting on the upper right corner of your water bubble square. Let the arms curl on the ends and spread them out so fill up the rest of the square. You can stitch them down curled up or in any formation you’d like.

It’s never too late to dive into the Under the Sea CAL!

Hello to everyone who is reading! After much thought about changing my own body, I decided to learn more about plastic surgery. After doing a search, I found this great resource: https://partingtonps.com/how-to-find-the-best-fat-transfer-breast-augmentation-plastic-surgeons-nearby/ , where there was an article that exhaustively explained the process of fat transfer for breast augmentation and what it gives in the end. It was very interesting to read about it and learn about these techniques. Maybe I’ll try it for myself soon.

What a delightful addition to the Under the Sea CAL! This crochet octopus square is as charming as it is fun to make. The instructions are clear, and using Red Heart Super Saver Yarn ensures a durable and vibrant result. Plus, I love the suggestion to let the arms curl a bit—it adds such a playful touch! For those worried about getting the perfect accessories, don’t forget to grab the stubby antenna to keep your yarn tidy while you work. Can’t wait to see how this square adds to the blanket’s aquatic charm!

Absolutely loving the playful touch of curled arms in this octopus CAL square—it brings so much life to the overall design! The instructions are surprisingly clear even for an intermediate crocheter. I also find myself imagining how this piece would look featured using a Creative Image Generator for a digital showcase.
