“Hello” Stamped Shortbread Cookies

August 8, 2013

What better way to say “Hello” and make new friends this year than with a plate of cookies πŸ™‚ Shortbread cookies can be stamped with any image but be sure you follow a recipe with NO baking soda or baking powder. If the cookie dough rises, the stamped image will disappear. I followed THIS recipe from Magnolia Days and it worked pretty well.

I love this idea for play dates or a beginning of the year treat for you child’s class. I found my stamp at the dollar store, but you can purchase a similar one from Amazon.

If you really want to get fancy, Rycraft is in the business of selling cookie stamps with beautiful designs and images that I am sure work even better than any old rubber stamp.

Once your dough is made, roll into small balls. I squished mine down a little and then sprayed some cooking spray onto the stamp (so it wouldn’t stick to the cookie) and pressed it down firmly into the dough. You can also use a little canola oil to grease your stamp. Bake according to the recipe you followed.

What a great idea. I could see doing that with other stampers. Makes me want to go to the craft store and buy some especially for making cookies :0)
