My Crochet Sloth Appliqué became the centerpiece for a Sloth Blanket! The blanket is made using my Moss Stitch In A Square pattern and combines both Red Heart Super Saver Yarn and Bernat Super Value Yarn. I love these two greens together! This is a really great way to make a custom themed blanket for a nursery or kids room. Any colors can be used and any motif could go in the middle.
Materials:
– Bernat Super Value Yarn in Deep Sea Green and Clay (one skein each)
– Red Heart Super Saver in Frosty Green and White (one skein each)
Red Heart yarn has a new home on Yarnspirations.com and these colors are #bettertogether! Shop these colors on Yarnspirations.com
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
Finished size is approximately 35×35
You can find the pattern for the Moss Stitch Blanket HERE.
This is the color pattern for the rounds:
20 rounds in white
4 rounds frosty green
7 rounds deep sea green
3 rounds white
2 rounds clay gray
3 rounds white
7 rounds deep sea green
4 rounds frosty green
3 rounds white
2 rounds clay gray
3 rounds white
4 rounds frosty green
7 rounds deep sea green
Make 4 pom-poms in clay gray for each corner!
If you carefully stitch your appliqué on and work your tapestry need through the middle of the moss stitches (and not all the way through the back of the blanket), you won’t see any mess on the backside! You could also stitch a second appliqué on the backside and make it completely reversible.
The backside of the blanket is below
This blanket is a gift for a friend who is decorating her baby room with a sloth theme! I will be sure to have her send some pictures of the blanket in the room so we can see how it coordinates with her design!

Hi Sarah,
This a beautiful blanket. My friend loves sloths and fell in love with this blanket.
She would like for me to make this for her but bigger. Do you know how I would figure that out? I’m not sure on the size she would need. She thought this was a throw size. How much more yarn would I need to make it a throw or even bigger? She said she would provide the yarn for me.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hello lovely I just wanted to say thank you very much for this tutorial on the sloth blanket I’ve never made one before my granddaughter came home and told me that one of her coworkers is having a baby and they like the sloth creature so I made it I finished it I learned how to make a leaf which is going to be awesome for my next project and then I made a little lovey blanket with just the sloth head but again thank you so much you’re really appreciated.

Sarah, thank you for your beautiful crafts and for sharing with us. The sloth is the symbol we use, as patients with Mysthenia Gravis. That is a rare, incurable autoimmune disease. We figure that we might be slow, in pain and all around weak, but we are as determined as our friend the sloth. We may be slow, but we won’t give up. I’m going to have to try making this.

I would like the pattern for the sloth blanket. My son’s spirit animal is a sloth. I have crocheted many of your patterns. TY for sharing them. I do not have a website.

Just finished making this today for my best friends daughter baby shower. Thank you so very much for the easy adorable pattern. I haven’t crocheted in about 10 years but found it to be easy to pick right back up with the tutorial videos on youtube and the ones you provided also 🙂
