
My popular Crochet Cups are coming to you in some new designs! The baby chick and the hatching baby chick cups are perfect the spring season and they will have several seasonal friends joining them in the next few days.

If you aren’t familiar with these crochet cups, it all started with my >>> BUNNY CUPS <<< which were made for holding a few small candy (or non-candy) treats! So easy to work up and great for Easter gift giving. Kids, teachers, neighbors, and friends will all love these!

Materials:
-Size K Crochet Hook
– Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in White and Saffron Yellow
Shop these colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com
– Strand of pumpkin orange yarn for nose
– Large Tapestry Needle
– Two black safety eyes (I used oval noses for the eyes, get them HERE)
Finished Size: Approximately 4 inches wide (3 inches wide at bottom) and 3.5 inches tall
Use a double strand of yarn when crocheting (two strands held together)
Hatching Chick Crochet Cup:
With two strands of white yarn held together
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 4: in back loops only, SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 5: working both loops, 2 SC in first, SC in next 4, repeat around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 6: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
Round 7: *SC in first 2, HDC in next, 3 DC in next, HDC, SC, repeat from * around,
join in double strand of yellow yarn, chain 1
Round 8: Slip stitch in back loops of each stitch, when you get to the 3 DC all in one stitch, only make a slip stitch in the middle DC (skip over the DC on either side of it), join, chain 1 (24 slip stitches)
Round 9: In back loops of slip stitch, SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 10-11: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
At the end of round 11, in the last stitch where your join is, chain 6 + slip stitch back to edge of cup + chain 8 + slip stitch + chain 6 and slip stitch to make 3 little loops that look like feathers.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
With a strand of orange yarn and your tapestry needle, loop yarn about 4 times around two stitches between rounds 9 and 10 on the front of the cup to create a little beak nose.
Add two black safety eyes (I used oval eyes) on either side of nose, one stitch up.






Chickadee Crochet Cup:
with two strands of yellow yarn
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join to first SC
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 4: Working in back loops for this round only, SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 5: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 6-11: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 12: Reverse SC in each stitch around, join,
At the end of round 12, in the last stitch where your join is, chain 6 + slip stitch back to edge of cup + chain 8 + slip stitch + chain 6 and slip stitch to make 3 little loops that look like feathers.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Wings (make 2):
Chain 6, SC in third chain from hook, HDC in next, DC in last two, chain 2 and join to last stitch. Fasten off and stitch wings to both sides of the cup.
With a strand of orange yarn and your tapestry needle, loop yarn about 4 times around two stitches between rounds 9 and 10 on the front of the cup to create a little beak nose.
