The third square in our House Blanket Crochet-Along is a Castle fit for all you crochet queens and kings! Somehow this square reminds me of both the majestic castles on the hills of Scotland and also the castle at the end of each level of Super Mario Bros. LOL! Either way I hope you love this addition to our house series!
What is the House Blanket CAL?
Each month in 2025, I will be posting a House themed corner-to-corner crochet square. Each house will reflect the seasons and/or holidays! At the end of the year I will stitch all 12 of the house squares together to make a stunning blanket of happy homes.

You can even spring ahead and make the April Barn Square! This was previously posted as the start of a barn blanket, but I decided I would use it for this project instead. I will repost it on April 1st as the official 4th square.
Each square starts with a 25×25 pixel graph. I use the corner-to-corner technique to crochet the square and the finished size of the crocheted squares are approximately 17 x 17 inches.
I was able to crochet this castle in one day but the trick is to roll up smaller balls of each color before you start. Especially the charcoal gray and spring green. You will have a lot of strands attached because of the darker border around the castle creates several color changes in each row.
The yarn I am using is Red Heart Super Saver in Spring Green (background), Light Gray (Castle), Charcoal (Castle border), Carrot Orange (door and towers), and Saffron Yellow (flag). Feel free to adjust the colors to your liking! I’m getting a lot of emails asking for the color list for the entire House Blanket CAL project. Unfortunately I am not working that far ahead and I don’t have yarn picked out for the upcoming squares. I do plan on having several colors repeat throughout the squares and you will want to have a variety of blue yarn on hand for the backgrounds of the squares.

If you are new to the Corner-to-Corner (C2C) Crochet technique, let me explain a little bit about it. You can take a pixel graph and turn it into a crocheted piece. By starting in one corner of the graph (the lower right hand is most common place to start), you will crochet diagonally in rows until you get to the other corner. One pixel square = a chain 2 + 3 HDC stitches. Please note that I am using HDC stitches for the C2C instead of DC.
