I’m on a roll with the “in a row” hats! These sweet cherries are my latest creation! I’ve seen cherry themed decor and apparel popping up everywhere so this crochet version is right on trend and perfect for Valentine’s Day!

I am using Red Heart with Love Yarn in colors Holly Berry, Bubble Gum, and Sweet Pink. You can use these interchangeably for all the parts of the hat but the tutorial below will use the bubble gum pink as the main color, holly berry red for the single crochet stripes and cherries, and sweet pink for the middle color between the cherries. You will also need a bit of Spring Green from the Super Saver line for the stems.
Materials:
– Red With Love Yarn Colors Holly Berry Red, Bubble Gum Pink, Sweet Pink (Light Pink), and Red Heart Super Saver in Spring Green

Special Stitch= Cherry Bobble
Yarn over pull through first stitch, pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull up through same stitch, pull through 2 loops, you should now have 3 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull up through same stitch, pull through 2 loops, you should now have 4 loops on your hook, continue until you have 6 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through all 6 loops, join with a slip stitch to the same stitch.

RIBBED BORDER:
Please be sure and watch THIS TUTORIAL from my friend Daisy Farm Crafts on how to make a single crochet ribbed border. I love this technique because you don’t need to sew the ribbing on separately, it is crochet right onto the edge of the hat! It’s basically a chain 7 (or however long/short your want your ribbed border – I suggest a chain 5 for the newborn hat), SC in each chain until you get back to the hat edge, slip stitch in two stitches along the hat edge and then SC in the back loops of the ribbing and repeat. She has a VERY easy tutorial to follow and you can use this border on many different projects.
