Now is the time to come together and help this community however we can. I have decided to help Heidi from Snappy Tots on her "Beanies for Brave Students" project. Heidi has asked the crochet community to help crochet 600 hats in green and white (their school colors) for the brave survivors at Sandy Hook Elementary. I crocheted my first 3 hats last night and plan on buying more yarn to make more. I used Vanna's Choice yarn in Kelly Green and White. They are asking for only Green, White or Green and White striped beanies. If you want to help by crocheting a beanie, please be sure to read all the "rules" before you begin. ReplyDeleteThank you for your help...it was very helpful for me.Just found Vanna's at Joann's .....went to Wal Mart , Michael's ,Hobbie Loby and my last stop in Joann's ....but I got them.Also love how the beanir with the stripes is looking....just started them now,very fun and for a good theme.I will make one with the stripes ...like it very much.Thanks once again...did not know anything about this ...found out by you .....Blessings.I will also post them in my blog .Happy week.

ReplyDeleteYes, what a tragic event that was for Sandy Hook. I cried and cried about that. If I could crochet, I'd make a green beanie for them. I do send many prayers for these people.

ReplyDeleteJust a heads up that I just received word that Newtown is not accepting anymore donations (of any kind). Whatever donations they do receive, will be given to other charities in the area. They did say if we wanted to donate in their honor, to think about organizations in our own area.
ReplyDeleteIs it confirmed Newtown is not accepting any more donations? I just spent all day driving around trying to find the right color of green yarn to make some beanies. I would still love to do this if it is still needed. I did try and find info online but was not successful. Thanks for the great blog! I love it and have had fun making some of your projects!
