Alphabet Wall Art – Take 2

July 23, 2013

Ok so I thought I liked my first attempt at alphabet wall art for my baby girls room but it didn’t seem like I wow’d any of you with it and the more I looked at it, the more I second guessed myself. I decided to give it another try, this time with scrapbook paper instead of acrylic paint. I think I like this version better!

I purchased a new frame (I had two Michaels coupons so I got a good deal) This time the frame is slightly smaller measuring 14×18. I covered the back part of it with textured craft paper. I used spray adhesive to stick it down which prevented any bubbles or wrinkles in the paper.

Next, I picked out a variety of scrapbook paper papers in coordinating colors. On the backside of the paper, trace your wood letters (be sure to trace them backwards). I purchased my wood letters from Michael craft store. They are ArtMinds Memoir Alphabet Letters and are approx. 1.5″ tall.  Then using small scissors (I found my small sewing scissors worked best) cut out your letter from the paper. You will want to cut slightly inside the traced line so it fits on the wood letter better.

Cut all your letters out of paper and lay them out to make sure you like how they look before glueing them down.

When you are happy with how it looks, glue the scrapbook paper to the wood letters with a thin coat of mod podge.
Then lay your letters onto the board and hot glue them on!

Put it back in the frame and you’re done!

You really got it right. Love love love it! Makes me wish I had a little girl in my life. Hmmm, Maybe I should do my name and hang it on my door. Think 70+ is too old for that bit of whimsy?
