Crochet Planned Pooling Pouch

November 27, 2016

If you jumped on the planned color pooling trend this year, you may be a little tired of making scarves… but don’t worry, I have another project idea for you! With Bernat Handicrafter Holidays yarn you can make cute little Crochet Planned Pooling Pouches that are perfect for Christmas treats, gift cards, small presents, and more!

If you aren’t familiar with Planned Color Pooling you can read all about it in my POST HERE. To summarize, by using variegated yarn and the moss stitch and a starting chain of anywhere between 20-28, this argyle pattern naturally creates itself! Note that not all variegated yarns work and there is usually some trial and error involved on getting this to work out correctly. Yarnspirations Bernat Handicrafter Holidays yarn (buy yarn HERE) has the perfect variegations to be abler to create the color pooling technique and it’s such a fun yarn for Christmas!

I used a size H crochet hook and made a starting chain of 20 and 24… again it was a bit of a trial and error to get the pattern to work. Crochet a long strip until it measures about 12 inches long.

Fold your strip in half and sew the sides together.

Weave a long strand of yarn (approx. 20 inches long) over and under the single crochet stitches on the top opening of your pouch. Then attach tassels to both ends of the strands of yarn!

Stuff with candy or gifts! Finished size is about 6 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide.
Happy Holidays!

I love these little pouches, but cannot for the life of me get it to pool. I have used another yarn and pooled it. Unfortunately, it was yarn that has been discontinued and I haven’t tried again until this one. Not having any luck at all. If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate any help.
