Crochet Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkin Pouf

Happy September! Are you officially in Fall crochet mode?! We are having a heat wave here in Southern California but that’s not stopping me from working on tons of cozy crochet projects and fun and festive Fall/Halloween decor! Remember the Pumpkin Pouf I made a few weeks ago using Bernat Blanket pumpkin yarn?! If you didn’t see it or need a refresher you can see the full post HERE. I used the Apple Pouf pattern from the Yarnspirations Season 1 StitchFlix Lookbook and transformed it into a pumpkin pouf just by changing the color of yarn! Now I’m making one more addition to my pouf as I get into the Halloween spirit… the Pumpkin Pouf is now a Jack-O-Lantern!

This idea came to me from a past project. My Pumpkin Pouch got a jack-o-lantern makeover too! You can see it HERE. I just altered the pattern a bit for this project!

Materials:
-Bernat Blanket Yarn in Black
– Size N Crochet Hook
– Large Tapestry Needle

Jack-0-lantern Triangle Eyes: Make 2
Chain 6, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (5 SC)
Row 2: SC decrease over first two, SC in next, SC decrease over last two, chain 1, turn
Row 3: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (3 SC)
Row 4: SC decrease two times, chain 1, turn
Row 5: SC in each stitch, chain 1, turn (2 SC)
Row 6: SC decrease, fasten off leaving long tail to sew eyes onto pouf.

Jack-o-lantern Triangle Nose: Make 1
Chain 4, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn
Row 2: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (3 SC)
Row 3: SC decrease two times, chain 1, turn
Row 4: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (2 SC)
Row 5: SC decrease, fasten off leaving long tail to sew eyes onto pouf.

Jack-o-lantern Mouth:
Chain 20, SC in second chain from hook, HDC in next, DC decrease over next two, chain 3 and slip stitch to the same spot as your decrease, slip stitch in next 4 chains, chain 3, DC decrease (starting in spot where you have your chain 3), DC in next, DC decrease, chain 3 and slip stitch to the same spot as your decrease, slip stitch in next 4 chains, chain 3, DC decrease (starting in spot where you have your chain 3), DC, HDC, SC in last. Continue to SC along the bottom edge of mouth. Even if your mouth isn’t in the perfect smile shape, you can still sew it on correctly!

Stitch on using your tapestry needle and work through the stitches of the pumpkin pouf.

My kids love sitting on and hugging this big old floor pouf! Grandma just came to visit and she even commented on how much they love it! I can’t wait to change it up for each season since the crocheted part is removable and the floor pouf is an inflatable foot stool!
