I am joining in the fun with a new tutorial and pattern that will brighten your day: A Crochet PomPom Sunshine Pillow!
Zoe loves the song “You are my Sunshine” and I thought to myself, how cute would it be to make a sunshine pillow and use pompoms as the sun rays! Made with soft and smooth Caron Simply Soft yarn in color… wait for it.. SUNSHINE! It’s so snuggly and full of fun texture!
You can make PERFECT pompoms using the Clover Large Pompom maker set! No trimming needed! These little contraptions are miracle workers! I purchased my set HERE from Amazon (aff) and made 9 of the large and 9 of the extra-large.
– 2 skeins of Caron Simply Soft in Sunshine, a bit of Strawberry color for the cheeks, and brown for the slip-stitched eyes and mouth. Shop colors HERE at Yarnspirations.com
Full disclosure: I came up 3 pompoms short and had to dig into a 3rd skein, but you could easily distribute your pompoms so you only use two skeins. Seems silly to buy 3 for this project.
– Size G crochet hook
– Clover Large Pompom maker set (I used both sizes). You can purchase it HERE.
– 14 inch round pillow form (you can purchase at JOANN fabrics and crafts). Or you can use poly-fil stuffing.
– Stitch Marker

Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (16 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, join, (24 SC)
fasten off leaving long tail to sew onto one side of pillow cover.
Surface slip stitch smile and eyes/eyelashes onto same side of pillow cover pieces as your cheeks.
Place the two pillow cover pieces together and SC the edges together. Insert pillow form or poly-fil before closing up.
Note: I did need to take some of the stuffing out of the 14 inch pillow form so it would fit better.
Make 9 large and 9 extra-large pompoms. You can make less, just be sure to distribute them evenly around pillow before sewing on.
Tie pompoms tightly along edge of your pillow.
