This Crochet Monster Blanket is an early Halloween project! I always prefer cute over creepy and this blanket is not short of cuteness! I used the new Bernat Pipsqueak Stripes yarn which is being sold in Walmart Stores. It comes in eight different color combos (shop all colors HERE) but I was drawn to this one called “playdate” with its perfect mix of blues and pinks! Pipsqueak yarn is a super soft and fluffy “fur” type yarn.
I know that some of you may feel intimidated by this yarn because its hard to see your stitches when crocheting. If you keep stitches simple and loose then it’s easy peasy! It’s hard to see the stitches in the video but trust me, you can easily feel for them. Plus crochet is really forgiving so if you do miss a stitch, you can easily make up for it in the next row.
Materials:
– Bernat Pipsqueak Stripes Yarn (2 skeins) in color Playdate or any of the 8 colors found HERE.
– Size H crochet hook
– Caron Simply Soft in White, Black and Robins Egg (or whatever color you want for the border)
– Tapestry Needle

Very cute blanket. I would like to see the back side of the blanket after eyes and mouth are sewn on.

I’m struggling with this!! I have the main blanket made and am working on the edging, but can’t figure out how to attach the eyes and mouth without lots of strange yarn marks on the back. Help!!!

Do you block your blankets?

I am a bit confused on the teeth…. It says to chain 2. SC in 2nd chain and all the way down chain ending with 4….. Should we start with a chain 5?

How do you manage to grt even borders? I am a super very beginner (this is my second attempt to crochet) and I have been struggling a lot with how uneven it looks!

I also want to know what back looks like where the Face is sewn on.
Also, do you go back through and sew the edges of the border down more? Or just leave it with the two sides of the triangle affixed? Thanks!!

This is a lovely blanket. After the eyes and mouth are put on, I’d want to see the back side of the blanket.
