Crochet Skinny Scalloped Scarf

January 18, 2018

You won’t believe how simple this scarf is to make, yet it will look like you bought it from a boutique! Let Bernat POP! yarn do all the color work! This beautiful variegated yarn comes in many colors and adds such a nice dimension to this project. Plus the scalloped edge gives it an extra flair. A great scarf to wear in all seasons and a wonderful gift as well. Pair it with my 50-minute Fingerless Gloves which also would look fabulous crocheted in Bernat POP! yarn!

Right now Bernat POP! is 30% off at Yarnspirations.com!
Don’t miss out on this sale and your chance to add a one (or ALL?!) of the 18 colors to your stash!

Materials:

  • One skein of Bernat POP! yarn in Blue Blaze
  • Size H Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle

Stitches Used:

Sl St = Slip Stitch

SC = Single Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

Special Stitches:

Scallop: Skip 2 stitches and make 7 DC in the next stitch, skip 2 and join with slip stitch, repeat from beginning.

Scarf Pattern:

Chain 200 loosely

DC in 3rd chain from hook and the rest of they way down chain (198 DC), chain 1, turn

Row 2: SC in each stitch across, chain 2, turn (198 SC)

Row 3: DC in each stitch across, do not turn (198 DC)

Scallop stitch around entire scarf.

You will start by making 7 DC all in one stitch (the middle stitch of the end of the scarf – where the SC is) and slip stitch to the first stitch in other end of scarf. You have now made one scallop. *Skip 2 stitches, make 7 DC in next stitch, skip 2 stitches, join to next stitch with a slip stitch, repeat from *

Begin first scallop on end of scarf by making 7 DC in the end of the middle row.

Continue to make the scallop stitch around entire scarf.

Roll it up like a rose to gift or sell!

Finished size  is about 74 inches long and 4 inches wide. You can always make the scarf long or wider by increasing the starting chain and adding on rows!

Of course little miss Zoe immediately snatched this scarf up for herself 🙂

    One of my favorite crochet scarf patterns is the 3 in 1 crochet scarf. You can wear it as a shawl, a vest or as a scarf. It’s pretty easy to make and with the versatility of wearing it 3 different ways it’s a good gift item also.

    How many stitches would you do for a child size scarf? I would like to make this for a 2 year old and a three year old

    This is such an adorable pattern, and so fantastic for a beginner. I’ve made 3 so far in 3 different colors, and all have come out beautifully! I’m currently working on my 4th (Strawberry Fields). They really are perfect little scarves!
