Giant Crochet Bernat Blanket Plush Star

April 8, 2024

How many of you looked to the skies today to see the solar eclipse?! We had about 65-70% totality here in Phoenix and I got a glimpse of it! Below is an iPhone photo of the eclipse through the solar glasses.

Speaking of the solar system, I’ve been working on this big plush five point crochet star! It works from the outside inward. Meaning you will start by crocheting the 5 points and then crochet them together with just a few rounds of decrease stitches. It’s actually more simple than it sounds!

I am using Bernat Blanket yarn in color Sunsoaked. Yep, that’s the same color I used for Quackers the Duck so you might already have it on hand. You will need one full ball.

Not a fan of amigurumi? My next project will be this Crochet Star Blanket from Yarnspirations.com that I am going to match to the star. Just imagine it in this beautiful bright yellow with the cute smile and eyes! Or you can make it it in multiple colored stripes. Lots of options!

Materials:
– 1 big ball of Bernat Blanket Yarn in color Sunsoaked
– Small amount of Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in color Perfect Pink (for the cheeks)
– Poly-fil Fiber Stuffing
– Size K Crochet hook for Star and Size H hook for the cheeks.
– Two 20mm Black Safety Eyes (I like THIS pack of extra-large safety eyes from Amazon)(Affiliate)
– Strand of Black Blanket yarn or Worsted Weight yarn for the smile.
– Large Tapestry Needle

Finished Size: Approximately 22 x 22 inches

Star Pattern:
Start by making the 5 cone shaped points

Star Points (make 5):
Magic Ring, 6 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (9 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1 (12 SC)
Round 4: 2 SC in first, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (15 SC)
Round 5: 2 SC in first, SC in next 4, repeat around, join, chain 1 (18 SC)
Round 6: 2 SC in first, SC in next 5, repeat around, join, chain 1 (21 SC)
Round 7: 2 SC in first, SC in next 6, repeat around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 8: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 9: 2 SC in first, SC in next 7, repeat around, join, chain 1 (27 SC)
Round 10: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (27 SC)
Round 11: 2 SC in first, SC in next 8, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 12: SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off leaving tail (30 SC)
No need to weave in tail yet.

Set out the 5 points to create a star shape.
Now lets join them together on one side, then will flip them over and do the same for the other side.

Middle of Star Pattern:
Starting at any edge on any one of the star points
Round 1: Attach yarn, chain 1, SC in first 15 stitches (this means you will have exactly 15 stitches remaining on the other side of the points edge), leave remaining stitches unworked, continue by SC in 15 stitches on the next star point, and repeat for remaining 3 points, join, chain 1 (75 SC)
Round 2: SC Decrease, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (60 SC)
Round 4: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1
Round 5: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (45 SC)
Round 6: SC Decrease, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1
Round 7: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 8: SC Decrease around, join, chain 1
Round 9: SC Decrease until closed.
Note: It may help to make SC Decreases with your tapestry needle for that last bit to close the circle.

Add the Face before working on the backside of the star.

Cheeks (make 2):
with Red Heart Super Saver in perfect pink and H hook
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, fasten off leaving long tail.

Add two 20mm safety eyes between rounds 3 and 4 from center

With stand of black yarn and tapestry needle (preferably Bernat blanket but could be worsted) stitch on a smile.

Stitch on cheeks on either side of smile, below eyes.

Now flip the star over and repeat the Middle of Star Pattern.
BE SURE TO STUFF WITH POLY-FIL BEFORE CLOSING!

If you notice you have small spaces between the points of your star, stitch them closed with those extra loose ends or with a strand of yarn and tapestry needle.

I can’t wait to see your sizable and squeezable crochet stars!
Shine bright!

By the way, things made by hand are valued much more, as they take a lot of time and human effort. If you knit a lot of things and would like to sell your goods, I would recommend you to cooperate with such stores as shoemall . Surely you will be able to place your goods on their shelves

Hello everyone! After much deliberation, I decided that I wanted to have a breast augmentation, but it was important to me that it be done without scars, because they look ugly. While looking for information, I found the website https://partingtonps.com/scarless-breast-augmentation-cost-myths-reality-2/ . The site describes in detail how to achieve the desired effect without unaesthetic consequences and what to do to minimize them. I especially liked the article discussing the myths and reality of the procedure’s cost. It helped me realize that it is possible to get a beautiful result at a reasonable price.

I love how you connected the solar eclipse to your crochet project — the bright Sunsoaked yarn is such a perfect choice for a star theme. The plush star sounds cozy and fun to make, and pairing it with a Eggy Car Game matching star blanket will be adorable. Great inspiration for anyone who loves celestial crafts!

In Geometry Dash Lite, players guide a geometric icon through dangerous paths filled with spikes and traps. The gameplay is synchronized with music, turning every jump into a rhythm-based action. One mistake sends you back, encouraging repeated attempts.

That’s so cool! I love the idea of crocheting the points separately and then joining them. The Sunsoaked color sounds perfect. It reminds me of the addictive fun of combining fruits in Suika Game! If you need a break from crochet, give it a try. It’s strangely satisfying when those big watermelons finally pop out.
