C is for cookie and cookie is for me! Everyone’s favorite monster now in crochet hat form! You are never too old to wear a Cookie Monster hat! And don’t be intimidated by the fun fur yarn. I will show you and easy way to work with it!
Materials:
– Size I (or H) crochet hook
– Blue fun fur yarn. I used Lion Brand Yarn Fun Fur in Cobalt.
– Blue worsted weight yarn. I used Loops & Threads Impeccable in Royal Blue.
– White and Black worsted weight yarn.
– Two 1″ black buttons
– Tapestry needle
Abbreviations:
Magic Ring
SC = Single Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
SC Decrease = Single Crochet Decrease
Entire pattern is worked using two strands of yarn. You will use the fun fur and the blue worsted yarn together. You don’t want to use the fun fur on it’s own. It is extremely hard to see your stitches and you won’t be able to keep the correct stitch count. But using the worsted yarn WITH the fun fur makes it easy to see your previous row and follow the pattern! Fun fur will still look full. Check the inside of your project when finished. If the fur is thicker then turn your hat inside out!

Thank you so much for the tip about putting the fur yarn with the other yarn. I bought some of the fur yarn but it was way to hard to work with. Like you said you can see the stitches. I never would have thought to do this. Again thanks for the tip. Can’t wait till I am better and am back to crocheting 🙂

Hello!! I am a huge fan of your patterns. I have made many of your hats for my grandchildren. My question is, I cannot find fun fur in solid blue. I even called Lion Brand company. They said they don’t make blue anymore. Do you know where I can find some? Do you have an alternate you can recommend? Thank you!!

I use King Cole moments in navy as the ‘fur’ for this. Works well.
