Caron Cozy Cottage Crochet Pillow

February 18, 2017

CozyCottage1

The Caron Cozy Cottage Crochet Pillow was by far my favorite pattern in Yarnspirations new Lookbook and I couldn’t wait to get it on my hook! The pattern is free and one of 12 featured in the Snowed In Lookbook. The whole pillow is pretty much made up of rows of HDC stitches which makes this project quick and repetitive! A great one for multi-tasking – like when you want to watch tv and crochet 🙂 You only need one skein of each color of Caron Simply Soft. I think it’s pretty neat that you can create a whole pillow with just one skein!

For my pillow I used Caron Simply soft in Blackberry and Brown with White for the window. I added a few different details like making the door openable 🙂 I used a button for the doorknob and skipped over one double crochet stitch in the middle of the second to create a hole to attach it.

I also decided to surface slip stitch the window borders on. You can find a tutorial on surface slip stitching HERE.

In addition, I made a little girl (Zoe likes to call her a fairy or a ballerina) that can sit inside the door and matches the her little cottage house 🙂 I am including the pattern for the tiny little crochet girl right here in this post!

My little Zoe (who is getting over the sniffles) demonstrates the opening of the cottage door 🙂

Thank you for sharing this, I’ve just downloaded the cottage pattern. I love the little ballerina as well. Going to be making each of my granddaughters a cottage and ballerina, they both do ballet so it’ll be a nice little gift.

Hi Sarah, I’m doing this project now. What yarn did you use to sew the window and door attached on the front panel? Thank you.

Salutations Sarah, I’ve started working on this project. The front panel’s connecting window and door were sewn using what yarn? x
