Oh Say Can You SEA… the Cutest Patriotic Jellyfish?
Celebrate the Fourth of July with a splash! This cheerful crochet jellyfish is making waves in classic red, white, and blue and is ready to float into your Independence Day festivities.
Inspired by the phrase “From Sea to Shining Sea,” this little jellyfish is a fun reminder that patriotic spirit can be found from coast to coast and even under the sea! Whether you’re decorating for a backyard barbecue, a beach trip, a lake house, or simply looking for a quick holiday project, this smiling sea creature is sure to brighten the celebration.
It’s also incredibly beginner-friendly! The body works up quickly in simple single crochet, while the curly tentacles add lots of playful movement without much effort. Make one in traditional patriotic colors or create a whole school of jellyfish in different shades of red, white, and blue.

Assembly
Attach the curly tentacles to the bottom opening of the jellyfish body. Each tentacle has two loose yarn ends. One from the starting chain and one from the end of the spiral. Thread both yarn ends through the bottom piece of the jellyfish, then tie them together in a secure knot on the inside. Continue attaching the tentacles evenly around the opening, alternating colors if desired.
Tip: Don’t worry about weaving in the yarn ends! The knots and tails will be hidden inside the jellyfish once it is stuffed.
Next, stitch the bottom circle to the back loops of the final round of the jellyfish head/body. Before closing the opening completely, stuff the jellyfish firmly with Poly-fil, making sure all of the tentacle knots and yarn tails are tucked neatly inside.
Leave a long yarn tail when finishing the seam. Thread it onto a yarn needle and bring it from the center of the bottom piece up through the top of the jellyfish, creating a hanging loop. Then bring the needle back down through the top and out the bottom to secure it. Running the hanging loop through the center of the stuffed body helps support the jellyfish, keeps the bottom from sagging, and makes the hanger extra sturdy. Tie off, weave in the remaining yarn, and trim.

Make Waves This Fourth of July!
Sometimes the best holiday projects are the simplest ones. This patriotic jellyfish works up quickly, uses just a few small amounts of yarn, and is almost guaranteed to make people smile. It’s a fun little reminder that creativity can come from sea to shining sea.
Happy crocheting, and Happy Fourth of July and Happy 250th America!!
